“I recently replaced my Apple iPhone 8 Plus with an iPhone X, and so far my impressions of the latter device have been positive,” Ashraf Eassa writes for The Motley Fool. “The display is excellent, the touch responsiveness is a big improvement over that in prior iPhone models, and the new, nearly bezel-free design is a welcome improvement in aesthetics — it’s a beautiful product.”
“Nevertheless, while the iPhone X is a great device that, after a period of adjustment, is a joy to use, there are some ways that I think Apple could make it quite a lot better,” Eassa writes. “To that end, here are two things I think Apple should improve upon in future product releases.”
“As somebody who has primarily used Apple’s larger iPhone Plus models over the last several years, the iPhone X seems downright small,” Eassa writes. “A phone that’s similar in design to the current iPhone X but with the physical footprint of an iPhone 8 Plus would be the ultimate device in my view, especially given the enormous amount of screen that Apple could fit on such a device.”
“When Face ID works, it’s incredible. And fortunately, it seems to work well in many common scenarios. I’m quickly becoming accustomed to it,” Eassa writes. “However, there are several situations that I’ve found in which Face ID simply doesn’t work that well — if at all.”

MacDailyNews Take: We have so few issues with Face ID that we’re surprised when we hear people having any issues with it whatsoever. Are people rushing through the Face ID setup, perhaps? If so, resetting your Face ID and rescanning your face might improve your Face ID experience.
As for a larger iPhone X device: Bring on our next iPhones!

‘Twas readily discernible differentiation, and not just in screen size, but in camera hardware and features that has sold and continues to sell many Plus model iPhones. ProMotion – especially and naturally coupled with Apple Pencil support – would be a strong reason to choose iPhone X Plus, iPhone X Pro*, or whatever they name it.

The iPhone X can be improved? Really? iPhone X isn’t as good as it should be and I was right not to purchase one. For those who did stew in your buyer’s remorse or simply convince yourselves how smart y’all were to purchase an unfinished product.

Apple could bronze a pile of Dog Poo and sell it for $800 and the Fanbois would cheer like they just got laid by the Homecoming Queen. The usual suspects would all review it and relate how Apple is so visionary and way ahead of the curve in the Dog Poo market.
Get rid of the glass back. Get rid of FaceID. Put a physical home button on it. Drop the price about $200.
That would be a good start.

1st – Get ready for your iPhone X plus to be 2,000 🙂 Its not small, it just is compared to the Plus. It felt large coming from a 6s and is still awkward at times trying to navigate to the top of the screen.
2nd – Face ID is fantastic! It makes using the phone so much better. Its difficult going back to my iPad where i have to use the thumb ID.
Tip when setting up the face ID hold the iPhone lower where you normally use it might help. But I don’t have problems here!
I love my X. I carried all versions of the “Plus”. I loved the better battery, better screen, and best of breed cameras but the size was always off, (for me) It was just a bit big in my pockets.
The X is PERFECT. I love having the same size screen as a “Plus” but with a smaller form factor. Also the battery is amazing. I’m surprised that I havn’t seen more articles on this but with the X I am often at 40% or so at the end of a day, I am used to being 20 – 30% on my last couple of Plus phones. Its an improvement in every way.
I’m supposed to dump my $400 noise canceling headphones because Jony has to have only one port for waterproofing. Haven’t dropped my phone in the toilet lately, but use my headphones daily. The adapter 3.5 inch stereo has terrible reviews. Bought my last apple product. 3 Mac Pros, 6 MacBook Pros, 3 iMacs, and standardize on OS that runs all my software. Bye bye Apple. BTW, I use my iPhone 6S for phone, calls, emails and messages. Same with iPad, mostly as a portfolio for pro photos (6 Nikons, 15 lenses) and video (3 pro HD cameras. Would never consider iPhone or iPad for pro work, only communication and display.
Jim- I find it hard to believe that an adapter is going to degrade the sound in ANY way. Don’t rely on reviews- take your current phone into an Apple store and listen to the same song on both phones (yours and an X with the adapter). See for yourself if it’s really so bad. With wireless charging, I can charge my X AND use a wired headset.
Just a thought…
The most important new feature I’d like to see is “auto-swipe to unlock” if, after FaceID recognizes me, there are no new notifications. If there are new notifications, I like the way it works now. But if I don’t have any notifications, at least give me the option to have the phone open without me having to swipe up.
All these people complaining about the X’s size mustn’t realise it’s a Plus-side screen in an 8-size body. They’ve already got the biggest screen available! The optical illusion must be strong.
