“Animojis are one of the more buzzed-about features of iPhone X,” Tim Nudd reports for AdWeek.
“Apple is pushing the feature (four new Animojis are coming to iOS 11.3 this spring) in a fun Grammys campaign,” Nudd reports. “Two 60-second spots feature an alien Animoji and a dog Animoji singing songs that are nominated for music’s top award: ‘Stir Fry’ by rap trio Migos, and ‘Redbone’ by Childish Gambino.”
iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera analyzes more than 50 different muscle movements to mirror your expressions in 12 Animoji.

MacDailyNews Take: Good ads. We only wish they opened with, and interspersed at points throughout, shots of people singing into their iPhone X units, so that Joe and Jane Sixpack would understand how it works, see how cool it is, and therefore imagine themselves creating Animoji, too.

I love my iPhone X and the animoji are a lot of fun. But It’s a shame they have to use that pathetic example of so called entertainment and relate to a pile of shit for a demo….
technology and cultural statements! No, use of advanced tech resulting in trite, empty and false assumption of it’s value to culture. This makes me apprehensive about what will make the cut in Apple’s TV productions, as “redeeming” content is pursued. I know, I know…it’s only a v-emoji, but someone is giving it a “thumbs-up” and how/why is being asked, (acknowledging Grumpy old man alert).
So there’s a poop animoji, which is sure to enrich our digital lives for generations to come.
But it needs a counterpart, like perhaps a roll of toilet paper.
Call it sanimoji.
