“J.J. Abrams has written a new sci-fi drama television series that is currently the subject of a bidding war between Apple and HBO, Variety has confirmed with sources,” Joe Otterson reports for Variety.
“Details of the project are being kept under tight wraps, but it would reportedly deal with a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force,” Otterson reports. “Should the project move forward, it would be Abrams’ first TV writing gig since ‘Fringe’ in 2008.”
“Abrams has kept plenty busy in the past few years on the film side alone. In addition to writing, producing, and directing ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Abrams also executive produced ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ and will again produce, write, and direct ‘Star Wars: Episode IX.’ He is also a major part of the new ‘Star Trek’ film franchise at Paramount,” Otterson reports. “Of course, Abrams is no stranger to television audiences. In addition to co-creating ‘Fringe,’ he also co-created ‘Lost,’ and created the shows ‘Felicity’ and ‘Alias.'”

Apples doing all this tv stuff but how much will it cost and when ? ? I don’t see general tv stuff pricing and the subscription service is only for music not movie or tv yet . What’s going will be down the road and not today. Figure there would be some hint by now even for the stuff they’re producing now

I hope it’s not sadistic, dour, vindictive, totalitarian, and otherwise as twisted in a negative way as Lost which I stopped watching it in reruns after I identified these traits.
I hope it’s not something with as ridiculous a premise as ‘Sleepy Hollow’. Only decent writing saved that POS.
He started Lost and then handed it off- same with Alias. So what is to assure a buyer he will not hand it off to let it twist in the wind?

Apple’s desperation for acclaim in TV entertainment success is pathetic. Apple is merely begging for relevance and is willing to throw as much cash as possible.
