“Apple’s iPhone X represents a massive departure from the company’s earlier smartphone models,” Zach Epstein writes for BGR. “The tenth-anniversary iPhone is a reimagining of Apple’s smartphone in so many ways, from the look and feel of the hardware to the new gesture-based navigation users must learn in order to use an iPhone with no home button.”
“It takes a bit of getting used to, but most Apple fans seem to enjoy the new user experience a great deal,” Epstein writes. “Of course, there’s more to the iPhone X then just a few new gestures, and most users seem to be unaware of all the nifty hidden tricks that make using the iPhone X so much easier.”
“We’ve collected 10 lesser-known tricks that are going to be big eye-openers for many iPhone X users out there,” Epstein writes. “iPhone newcomers are going to be wowed, but even advanced users are going to learn something in this post.”

MacDailyNews Take: Of course, setting up Face ID properly in the first place is of utmost importance. As is enabling enabling Reachability, which we did the first day with our iPhone X units. But, one of our most favorite things is being able to just wake the iPhone X and swipe to the left on the lock screen to immediately access the Camera app!

How do I get rid of the notch?
That’s easy.
1. Actually get an iPhoneX.
2. Use it.
…then you will no longer feel compelled to criticize something you have no experience with.
You nailed it. It’s the most ridiculous gripe since the “bend gate” videos on youtube.
I forgot about the notch after 2 days. If anything now it tells me which way is up on the phone.
I don’t care about the notch at all, it’s not an issue in any app I use. What I don’t like is the narrower screen compared to my 6+, which was really an ideal size. Keeping the same screen dimensions while eliminating the forehead and home button chin, while slimming the side bezels, would have been perfect. We’ll see what the rumored X Plus is like in September, if it really does jump to 6.5″ it’ll be less wieldy than the Plus.
Another..make your “wallpaper” and lock screen black. Then move all apps out of the first home screen to the right (second home screen). Stay on your blank home screen and enjoy even better battery life. My phone will last all weekend..no charge Friday through Sunday night. This is one real benefit of the OLED.
The app switcher and camera shortcuts are nice.
There seem to be a lot of people who want to convince themselves that the notch doesn’t exist. Psst, it’s still there.
Reminds me of a joke…
Q: why do annoying salesmen have notches in their forehead?
A: point and poke your finger toward salesman’s forehead [all in good fun, of course] and say, “I said, GET OFF MY PORCH!” […MY POST!]
