“Some iMac Pro customers are waking up to a 5K present under the tree as early orders of the powerful new machine have begun arriving early on the doorsteps of a lucky few,” Michael Steeber reports for 9to5Mac.
“New images posted to Instagram and a video on YouTube show the iMac Pro and Space Gray accessories in the hands of customers,” Steeber reports. “Initial shipping estimates showed that orders would begin arriving on December 27th, but it appears that some deliveries are beating those estimates.”
“While a lucky few have gotten an early surprise, don’t expect to be so lucky if you’ve ordered one yourself,” Steeber reports. “Yesterday, we reported that some customers had begun to receive “preparing to ship” notifications for their iMacs, with delivery dates from December 28th.”

The iMac is not the Mac of my dreams.
My guess is its the plain Jane ones that don’t require customization….just a guess.
I did a BTO, admittedly it’s probably a common configuration (10 cores, 64 GB RAM, 2TB SSD), and I got an arrival date of Dec 28.
The iMac Pro is already in the Apple stores. The one near us has them on display and in stock to take home.
SO can you buy the trackpad without the Pro? Not a fan of the white tackpad.
I ordered my iMP full tilt right after it became available to order. Original shipping estimate was 6-8 weeks. Yesterday, I received an email saying it would be shipped January 5. Fun! Today I received an email saying the previous one was erroneous. Online, it still shows a mid-February delivery date. Oh well.
