Holiday spending on track to be highest in at least 12 years

“Buoyant American attitudes on the economy look set to show up in plentiful, record-setting holiday spending this season,” Steve Liesman reports for CNBC. “The CNBC All-America Survey found that average holiday spending intentions will top $900 for the first time in the 12-year history of the poll, eclipsing last year’s estimate of $702 by a wide margin.”

“The survey of 800 Americans nationwide, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points, found a surge in the percentage of Americans planning to spend more than $1,000, to 29 percent from 24 percent,” Liesman reports. “The survey found that more than 50 percent believe the economy is in good or excellent shape and that half believe it’s a good time to invest in stocks, the highest showing for both metrics in the survey.”

“The spending intentions appear to have been spurred by wealth and politics,” Liesman reports. “Those who believe the stock market will rise show above-average plans to increase their spending. And holiday spending plans by Republicans, which are often larger than Democrats, are far larger this year than last year.”

  1. Thank God for Trump. If not for his series of blunders, legislative failures and Twitter tantrums over the past year, I wouldn’t have enough money for Christmas.

    1. Yeah, like his boneheaded “Cash for Clunkers” program which was a complete and counterproductive utter failure.
Or when he secretly and illegally gave $1.6 billion in skidloads of cash to the #1 terror-sponsoring state.

      Oh wait! That was Obama.

    2. The unemployment rate fell from 10% to 4.8% under Barack Obama. The stock market doubled under Barack Obama. Positive economic outlook rose sharply under Barack Obama. So his policies couldn’t have been that bad.

      1. Black Unemployment Rate Lowest in 17 Years Under President Trump

The unemployment rate for black Americans is the lowest it has been since the year 2000, 17 years ago (source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

In November, the national unemployment rate for black Americans, ages 16 and over, was 7.3%. The last time it was 7.3% was in the year 2000, during the months September, October and November. The black unemployment rate has never fallen below 7.0% (April 2000).

During the Obama years, the black unemployment rate was largely in the double digits with a high of 16.8% in 2010.

  2. Obama protected international terrorist organization Hezbollah’s drug ring, smuggling tons of cocaine which was pushed to American citizens, to secure his idiotic “Iran nuke deal” legacy gambit.

Hezbollah used proceeds from its drug-running to finance the purchase of explosively formed penetrators (EFP’s), the deadliest IEDs used against American soldiers in Iraq.

    1. Nutshell:

Aiding and abetting the enemy vs. “Russians something or other” based on a fake Fusion GPS dossier created and paid for by the Democratic National Committee which was then perpetuated by the enemy aider/abettor’s unwarranted unmasking and executive order to allow sharing of raw NSA Intercepts, including incidentally obtained information, ordered just days before he left office.

      1. Nutshell:

        treason |ˈtrēzən|
        noun
        • the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government: they were convicted of treason.

  3. I don’t know much about politic but both Obama and Trump are working for the Americans with the purpose to rebuild this country after great recession. I didn’t vote for Trump, but I started to see Trump good deeds for this country, I could not be happier.

  4. This is happening under 44 potus policies. There has been NO legislation by 45 potus that would affect the economy. If you doubt, name one 45 policy that directly helped the working class..
