U.S. employment jumps more than expected in November, boosts U.S. stocks

“A stronger-than-expected pickup in U.S. hiring boosted stocks Friday,” Riva Gold reports for The Wall Street Journal. “The monthly jobs report showed U.S. employers added 228,000 jobs in November, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, according to the Labor Department. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected 195,000 new jobs last month.”

“Wages, which are closely watched as a sign of inflation, gained but remained relatively subdued. Still, the overall solid numbers are expected to give the Federal Reserve the final green light to raise short-term interest rates next week,” Gold reports. “Shortly after the open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 56 points, or 0.2%, to 24267. The S&P 500 added 0.3%, while the Nasdaq gained 0.7%.”

“Earlier, an agreement on Brexit divorce terms helped spur gains in global stock markets,” Gold reports. “The U.K. and the European Union reached an agreement Friday on Brexit divorce terms after six months of tense talks, opening the way for negotiations to advance on a trade deal and a post-Brexit transitional period.”

“In Germany, stocks also got a lift after the country’s largest opposition party said it would enter talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives over forging a new government,” Gold reports. “The DAX was up 1.1%.”

MacDailyNews Take: The stronger-than-expected U.S. employment report certainly bodes very well for the economy in general and for makers of coveted goods, like Apple, in particular.

Now, bring on the much-needed U.S. personal income and corporate tax reform and repatriation tax holiday!

    Free Healthcare? No such thing.
Free Money? From Obama’s “STASH”….. What a pathetic 8 years here in Michigan.

    1. Good to hear.

It is TRULY REMARKABLE what a maverick businessman (non-politician) has accomplished in just over 10 months!

Of course, the average person would not know it watching the Lamestream Media coverage with Russia on their brains, no their head, 24/7. Particularly the Washington Whispers of what he said she said in the pages of the Washington Post. And let’s not forget the 24-hour Impeachment Channels of CNN and MSNBC.

Imagine if Hillary were president and all this great economic news happened. The glowing news coverage would be non-stop and she would be heralded as the greatest first year president in the history of the United States.

Media denial aside, looks like that title may belong to President Donald Trump … 🇺🇸👏🏻🇺🇸👏🏻🇺🇸

    1. In his cap that was ‘made in China’. He’s laughing at the idiots that voted for him and the idiots that think economy data now,10 months in, relates to him and not Obama. You’re lauding a man that boasted about sexual assault. Would you celebrate your daughter dating him? No? But you’d vote for him…? Jeeez..

      1. I voted for Trump and I don’t think he is laughing at me. Quite the opposite, he is thanking me. Regarding his comments about grabbing women. I love an aggressive ladies man who knows who likes him …

        1. You never gave Obama an iota of credit for the many equal or better jobs reports. You conveniently forget to look at the reality that most of these jobs are holiday temp positions. Wage growth and accumulated wealth inequality, both longstanding problems, are now worse than any point in the last 2 generations. In the USA, the wealth of the top 1% wealthy now exceeds that of the lowest 40%.

This is the world Trump is delivering. Maybe you think 40% of your fellow Americans are deadbeats, but I do not. The game is rigged, people like Trump are continuing to rig it in favor of the rich.

You can repeat MAGA all you want, but you parrots never defined what that means. To Trump it means more money in his foreign bank accounts that he would, then refused to release on his secret tax returns.

I think what would be great is if we created a nation where anyone from any walk of life could get a quality education without accumulating debts that take 5+ years to pay off, healthy environments where public safety isn’t about having a militarized police force, but where anyone of any race creed sex and color can enjoy life without constantly being badgered or looked down upon — and environments where you can breathe the air and swim in the local lake without pollution killing you. And how about a nation where a single breadwinner can feed, clothe, educate, and house a family of 4 without fearing that they are one accident away from bankruptcy, or fearing they will have no financial choice but to work multiple jobs until they die.

I am waiting for the snide comments accusing me of being socialist or worse because as a compassionate conservative, I know my life is dramatically better when everyone– not jut the top few -% elitists– are happy healthy and renumerated fairly for the hard work they do.

I wish that was great in your mind goeb, but all i see is greed and partisan propaganda from you and your few friends here.

I agree with the above 100%.

Trump has more than enough money, does not need the job and declined a salary that will save taxpayers millions. I truly believe he cares about the common person in all parties. Not a smug partisan elitist that we had to endure the last eight years dividing all the people into groups either in favor or out of favor. Hillary practiced the same identity group politics and lost big time.

The only partisan propaganda from me is for the people and by the people. I am not and never have been a registered Republican or Democrat. Viva independence! …

        3. As do I, as you must know. But bragging about it to the help is decidedly lowbrow and is discouraged in the best families, as the keen social observer Jane Austin noted. There is no excuse for boorish behaviour.

        4. OK, so we both agree it is an admirable masculine quality within limits. And we also both agree bragging about it is not a common practice in “best families.”

That said, you have to admit the videotaping of a private off the record moment with a like minded male and released to the general public to denigrate a person is downright despicable. No matter the person, the motivation or the party affiliation.

I have said and bragged much of the very same in my cocky youth, privately of course, and never had to worry about it appearing on social media or the evening news …
