Apple Pay inks first deal with major French bank as Société Générale signs on

“Apple Inc. just scored an important deal,” Kinsey Grant reports for TheStreet. “Société Générale SA said in a brief statement Monday, Nov. 20, that it plans to offer Apple Pay to its customers soon.”

“Société Générale is the first major [French] retail bank to sign on, according to a report from NDTV’s Gadgets 360,” Grant reports. “pple already struck deals in France with some savings banks and a startup online bank created by telecom company Orange SA, plus supermarket chain Carrefour SA.”

Grant reports, “Apple launched its Apple Pay service in France about one year ago.”

  1. The French are notoriously slow to sign up to anything new. Their internal protectionist policies are completely opposite to the spirit of EU law. The sooner us Brits get out of this tangled mess of a European Project, the better.
