“After dealing with all sorts of screen issues, another problem with Google’s flagship smartphone is popping up,” Ron Amadeo reports for Ars Technica. “This time it’s an audio issue: users on Google’s official forums and elsewhere are reporting odd sounds coming from the Pixel 2 speakers.”
“Customers are complaining of ‘clicking’ and a ‘high-pitched whine’ coming from the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL,” Amadeo reports. “Most reports on the forums say the noises are coming from the top or bottom speaker on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.”
“Some reports say the sounds come through during calls, while other users say the speaker noises happen any time the screen is on,” Amadeo reports. “One possible workaround is to turn off NFC, which some users say stops or lowers the noises.”

I have an employee who has one, and has ordered his Pixel 2. He has already heard from “a friend” what a piece of junk it is, but still can’t wait to get it. :smh:

Considering that the Pixel is several magnitudes smaller as an income source than the iPhone for their respective companies, I can totally believe that.
Perhaps they should market the Pixel 2 & XL with the clicks and whines as a feature calling it “The Pixel 2/2XL Star Wars R2D2 Special Edition.”
What a fantastic idea, making the whine a feature. I’m surprised you got that idea past the fine and talented moderators here at MDN but I’m so glad you did. And to compare it to Star Wars, absolutely brilliant. Kenny Bake was such a great actor and with all those movies R2D2 appears in, that’s a lot of whining, so much whining.
Whining has become a conspicuous feature of contemporary politics. Let’s hope the idea doesn’t catch on and infect other areas of everyday life. Oh, wait—it’s too late. Whining is now officially sanctioned. Sportsmanship is defunct, grace discredited, responsibility debunked. Insulting language and behaviour are the new norm. Politeness is passé, ettiquette a game for sissies. I blame Donald Trump for this. No, he didn’t single-handedly bring all this about, but can anyone think of a better scapegoat? So much winning! .. uh, whining.
