What a great person and a great singer Tom was. RIP Tom Petty :weep:
I clearly remember after the LA riots due to the infamous Rodney King trial, Tom Petty hastily wrote and sang a song called Peace in LA. Such brilliance, it was a great song and he expressed the mood of many people who were terrified of those riots
TPs influence can’t be overstated..especially for me–he’s one of the reasons i picked up a guitar and started playing all those many years ago. A Gainesville boy who changed the world. Like Steven P Jobs, Thomas Earle Petty had so much more to give and left us way too soon..
I find it pathetic that people wait until someone is dead to buy their stuff.
Death has a way of drawing attention to artists and performers and other creative spirits to people who might have not noticed so in a way it is a good thing. Sometimes good things are gone before you can fully appreciate them or took them for granted. Death also creates a closed circle of work for enjoyment (except for posthumous releases as Hendrix fans know well of).
He was effortlessly cool.
