MacDailyNews Take: An unforced error on Apple’s part that never should have happened as it needlessly tainted an otherwise excellent product, Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular).

watchOS 4.0.1 fixes issues that in rare cases were causing Apple Watch to join unauthenticated (captive) Wi-Fi networks, such as those found in public places like coffee shops and hotels, which direct the user to a webpage before the network can be accessed.

I’ve had a Series 3 LTE on all day, every day since day 1 release. It has worked amazingly well out of the shoot. I’ve only had one instance of the related issue that everyone made such a big deal about in the initial reviews. I was working in my back yard with my watch on and my phone was in the house on the charger. I have a very weak/intermittent wifi signal in my back yard, and the watch was trying to stay paired to the phone in the house but the wifi wasn’t consistent or strong enough to maintain that connection. I went and got my phone and put it in my pocket while working out in the back yard and no more problem. I run every morning without my phone and the watch alone is perfectly awesome – could not be more happy with my purchase!
And that, as they say, is that. So much for WatchGate. It’s true that this bug should have been caught before the Series 3 release, but the haters should note that the issue was resolved in about two weeks. That’s quicker than the time that most people will wait to receive their watches.

I do not agree with your assessment. Painting the entire “media” with that broad brush is neither accurate nor helpful.
Some media organizations are better than others, on average. Some people within those organizations are better (more knowledgeable, better able to relate the news to the public, more impartial, etc.) than others either internal or external to their home organizations. But that applies to just about every profession.
In my opinion, labeling and disparaging is an overly simplistic process and a sign of lazy thinking and/or stupidity and/or ignorance.
