“Are you finding that your iPhone’s battery life isn’t anywhere near as good as it was with iOS 10? You’re not alone.,” Adrian Kingsley-Hughes reports for ZDNet.
“Every time Apple releases a new version of iOS, there never a shortage of people complaining that their battery life has gone from great to terrible. Sometimes this is just down to the iPhone or iPad needing a few charge/recharge cycles to recalibrate the battery charging mechanism and for things like Spotlight to finish indexing all the files on the device, other times it’s a bug in iOS or an app that’s sucking at the battery,” Kingsley-Hughes reports. “It seems that iOS 11 has a problem that’s seriously affecting battery life.”
“I generally ignore these early reports, but we’re now almost two weeks on from release, and despite seeing iOS 11.0.1 being released, battery life continues to be a big problem for many users,” Kingsley-Hughes reports. “[Beyond he usual tweaks], we’re all going to have to wait for Apple to push out a patch to address the problem (early indications suggest that iOS 11.1, which has been released to beta testers, goes some way to improve battery life).”

Again, if you’re able to hold out, wait for the first full point release (iOS 11.1) in order to allow Apple identify any major issues and correct them.

Not having any issues with battery life on my iPhone 7 with IOS11, its no worse or better than it was with IOS10.
My iPhone 7plus was greatly impacted immediately after the update. I’ve since rebooted it several times and it has settled down. I would say that on average I’m down 5% less battery on a daily basis. This is not a huge impact given I”m normally between 30 and 40% battery at the end of an average day for me.

iPhone 7 Plus. Battery always lasted until I went to bed. After iOS 11, it never lasts past 6pm, and many times not even that long. I’ve adjusted brightness, turned off Push in Mail and turned on Reduce Motion… all of which the iOS 11 update changed against my wishes. Still, battery life sucks. Wonder why it affects some and not others? Come on, Apple!!! 😡
The battery life on my iPhone 8 is just fine. And so is everything just fine with my iPad Air and iPad mini.
I have not experienced any noticeable degradation in battery life with iOS 11.
Yes, iOS 10 used to leave my iPhone 7+ with 25 to 35% by the end of the day, and rarely would I have to provide a mid-day charge on heavier-than-average-use days. On the other hand, iOS 11 leaves my phone drained before the end of the day, so now I must ply-in for an interim charge each afternoon.

Not too good on my other 6plus either. Turned down many options. Had original battery checked 2 months ago by Apple and was in great condition.
Question, can I roll back to iOS 10 and keep Watch 4 OS working correctly or will rolling back break the connection ( short term solution till Apple fixes issue)

Yes, significantly worse battery problems with iPhone 6s. Not safe for a day of usage out and about like it used to be. Can’t get more than a couple of hours of heavy use without needing to go into Low Power mode. Not good.
I don’t usually seem to have any bother when this one does the rounds after every year’s release, but my 6S’s battery has been absolutely hammered by iOS 11. It used to last all day. Last week I had to charge it from 0 – full three times in one day. Ridiculous.
My iPhone 6 Plus battery doing great.
My battery life was terrible for few days on my iPhone 6S Plus. Then I reinstalled OS 11, deleted practically all apps. Used it a s a phone only with no wifi, no BT, practically no apps running.
It was kind of the same battery running time as it was with iOS with all the apps, so even mobile phone use is eating battery.
I started to add apps back one by one. Stopped Siri indexing on almost all apps, switched off notifications. Now I am few percent below the time of iOS 10. Almost the same as earlier but running much less apps, no Siri indexing and no notifications. Hope it will be better soon.

This is a better suggestion than many people realize, and should not have been voted down.
Even if the problems are created by ios11 bugs, it could likely be affecting some apps more than others, given that battery life issues are affecting some users more than others.
This info could very likely be useful in isolating such bugs

Anyway, this is a real setting that will give you actual diagnostic info on what may be draining your battery. Go look and see if some app is taking 90% of its power. That just might give you a clue.
I called tech support about battery life and was told to backup and refresh to resolve the problem. Didn’t do anything. Also my iPhone 6 seems to run “hotter” with the update!!
Yes, I have a iPhone 6. Definitely noticeable. Got a new battery this Summer. All day no problems and know I need to charge by 5pm.
Hate the new podcast app too. It takes 3 presses to start instead on one. fast forwarding 10 sec takes an extra press too. This really adds up to a hassle throughout the day!
iPhone 8 Plus here with iOS 11. Battery life is incredibly good!!! My iPhone 7 Plus had good battery life, but it was never the same after I updated from iOS10.0. Considering not updating this set at all to keep good battery life.
I am dumbfounded by this and MacOS 10.13 High Sierra beta testers who went right along with this and other more serious issues without even blinking… THINK MONKEYS, THINK!

Upgraded to ios11 late last week, and ever since then my battery life is unch
My iPhone 6 battery was fine until I updated to iOS 11. Updating to iOS 11 my iPhone 6 battery went off the deep end. Initially, it would suddenly go from 100% to 0% and die. Two Apple Store Geniuses agreed that it was simply coincidence that the update and sudden battery drain were related. Option 1: Apple replaces battery for $80. Option 2: I replace battery for $25 from iFixit. (My iFixit replacement battery kit arrives in two days.)
In the mean time, the battery stopped charging altogether. Then my wife had the bright idea of throwing the phone into the freezer for up to 2 hours. To my utter amazement, it worked! Now the battery will charge again, but still limps along and suddenly crashes three times a day. Plugging in the battery goes from 0% to 100% in minutes. So it sounds like a major battery memory issue.
All the information I could find online says DO NOT put your Li-on battery in the freezer, but if you’re desperate, and getting a replacement battery or new phone soon, you just might want to try the freezer trick. YMMV!
I learned that battery trick as a stupid teenager in the dead of an icy-cold winter. I couldn’t get my car started and kept at it until the battery died. I had to walk home and the next day deal with the car. To my surprise the battery had “recharged’ during the freezing night, and the car started right up.
I’m having some quirky small issues, but I believe they are because of the various apps, not the OS, as each bit of quirkiness seems confined to that app. Skype has been extra weird, but honestly when isn’t that true? The strongest battery drain I’ve seen is with the AR apps I’ve played with are especially battery-hungry. Don’t know if that’s the framework or the app (or both).
The framework being the culprit wouldn’t surprise me, as first you make it work, then you make it efficient. All in all it’s quite impressive.
My iPhone 7 is a little faster to deplete, but not in any significant way. This seems to be a constant issue with major iOS releases and can tell you it is much better than beta versions of iOS or previous rounds of upgrade.
