  1. Stupid question…

If my Samsung UHD TV can natively stream 4K content from the crappy built in Amazon app..why does the Apple TV need a “beefed up” processor to achieve the same thing?

    1. Because Apple whiffed on Apple TV for three straight attempts. Today’s announcement doesn’t pull the Apple TV ahead of the competition. And what’s with the price premium Apple is demanding? Clearly still a hobby.

    2. Yes, they whiffed on past Apple TVs and that remote has a love/hate thing going on. (Thank god for Harmony remotes.)

But what does pull it ahead of the competition is including Dolby Vision – which is currently considered the top HDR format. I don’t think the other streaming devices are capable of being upgraded to DV. And only a handful of TVs are even Dolby Vision compatible. Samsung is not – and probably will never be as they have come out with their own version.

Just checked the audio specs – only supports up to Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. Thats a big miss unless it can be updated with firmware to support Dolby Atmos. Definitely a no buy for me now.

  2. Nice to see the whiny little negative Nancy’s on here complaining, always a treat. Meanwhile Apple dominates with massive innovation that Samsung and the rest can only dream about.

  3. !!! $1149 !!!! for a 256Gb PHONE!!!! Who would buy THAT!

mr ballmer, I’ll probably let my iPhone 6s plus be paid off for a few months, and get an iPhone X after Christmas….

if I cough up $1149 can I call it “EX” rather than Ten? 🙂

  4. No problem on the stream via Apple site on my iPad Pro 12.9 on South African network (that’s remarkable in and of itself). Yet, besides the touching Steve Jobs intro, rest of keynote was rather uneventful (thanks to leaks) and rather flat in its delivery. Even Craig seemed to be trying.
