This is everything Google knows about you – and how to switch it off

“It turns out Google knows a lot about you – an awful lot, in fact,” Jeff Parsons, Sophie Curtis and James Rodger report for The Birmingham Mail.

“The good news is you can see all this information for yourself,” Parsons, Curtis and Rodger report. “And, more importantly, you can switch it off.”

“To see everything you’ve been using Google for, you’ll first need to sign in to your account. Once you’re up and running, go to history.google.com/history,” Parsons, Curtis and Rodger report. “This is your activity page and will display all the information about what you’ve been up to on Google’s services – this includes Maps searches and YouTube videos you’ve watched.”

    1. Because not only the ads but the companies that also collect all the data about you each time you load MDN are revenue sources.

      My only bitch is when loading MDN on slow connections, it takes a long time to load/report to each of those ad related domains … including google’s multiple domains.

      I’m guessing that a large proportion of worldwide internet bandwidth is consumed just in tracking users, whether you are anonymous or not.

  1. Not having a Google account in the first place works best. They still try to track you, but they can be blocked to a large extent via browser extensions and with security measures like a VPN. Their bots aren’t ‘smart’, they can only take whatever misinformation you feed them at face value.
