“Apple has issued a statement regarding [Saturday’s] removal of ‘most major’ VPN apps from the App Store in China,” Matthew Panzarino reports for TechCrunch.
Apple’s full statement is as follows:
Earlier this year China’s MIIT [Ministry of Industry and Information Technology] announced that all developers offering VPNs must obtain a license from the government. We have been required to remove some VPN apps in China that do not meet the new regulations. These apps remain available in all other markets where they do business.

TunnelBear says they don’t do logging but how sure are you if that? What they say and what they do could be two different things.
proXPN is another ‘Trust No One’ VPN with no logging.
But could they log anyway? Eventually, logging would come out in a court case as evidence, wrecking a VPN’s reputation. That’s one dissuader from lying about it.
How long before other governments follow suit?

Corporate America decided long ago to do business with despots citing fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders. The point where the western world sold out on this was after Tiananmen Square- Poppy Bush decided to side with the ChiComs rather than those audacious enough to demand democratic reforms.
As a shareholder and customer I would prefer they not do business in or with China or Russia if this is what they want to do.
