Apple releases tvOS 10.2.2

“Apple has released a minor tvOS software update for the latest Apple TV. tvOS 10.2.2 is now available through the Settings app for all users,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac.

“The latest release likely only includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and security updates,” Hall reports. “We’ll update when Apple shares which security improvements are included in tvOS 10.2.2.”

Hall reports, “As for new features, Apple is also letting developers (and now public beta testers) run tvOS 11 beta ahead of its release later this fall.”

  1. I wasn’t expecting this update and unfortunately my Apple TV was on auto update. It updated and when I turned it on I had a moment of joy when I saw the keyboard was changed from the one line of letters all the way across the screen. I almost reared up with joy but it was over quick as when I launched Hulu and had to log in there was that nasty one line of letters again. So I picked up my phone to enter the password. Now this is the part that sucks ass. And I can only speak for me but the remote app (the one escape from that gd one line keyboard on screen) is broken again. So far I’ve only tried the Hulu app so that’s all I can speak about but I entered the password on the phone and pressed enter (nothing was in the text box on screen) and nothing happened. This is the SECOND time Apple broke their own app and that’s the first sign that the release is untested crap. I give up. Anybody wanna buy an Apple TV? Apple should just get out of this hobby business and leave it to the DIRECTV now and Hulu pros. (Tongue in cheek but beside Apple, those guys look like geniuses – no pun intended.) I’ll leave the HomePod to all of you. The Apple TV experience has soured me on the Apple experience. I’m tired of getting a freaking when I take a bite. The phone and iPad rock but they can say goodbye to ecosystem experiences when I don’t trust their other devices enough to experience it anymore. I’m so over this crap.
