“When the Cupertino company reports fiscal 3Q17 earnings, on August 1st after the bell, I’ll be asking myself: will iPads matter again?” D.M. Martins writes for Seeking Alpha. “In March of this year, Apple made a one-of-a-kind product refresh announcement that many analysts seem to have brushed off.”
“The company introduced an inexpensive 9.7-inch iPad at the $329 price point (36% cheaper than the most inexpensive iPad ever marketed until then),” Martins writes. “The new iPad was released on March 24th, just one week before the end of fiscal 2Q17 and too late to have made much of an impact on Apple’s P&L that quarter.”
“With plenty of skepticism about the iPad still in the air but a full quarter of new product sales in the bag, I wonder if fiscal 3Q17 will bring in good news for Apple’s tablet business,” Martins writes. “The answer should come not only in the form of units sold, but could potentially be reflected in better numbers for Apple’s Services.”

I preordered the new 12,9 iPad pro. Sadly it was faulty and had to return it and never got to play with it. I ordered from Verizon and still haven’t got a replacement unit back yet. Don’t know if it’s because of high demand or because the were making small batches.
Still, i can’t wait to run iOS 11 on it.

Hoping to see “good news” in Apple’s historic slowest quarter of the year is a pipe dream.
Not really Greg.. it should not be looked at as Apples slowest seqential quarter rather Year over Year (yoy) same quarter..
If there is maked improvment in ipad sales figures as compared to last years same quarter.. then that is Good news..

Well, I did my share for this Quarter Apple is reporting on, thanks to a project I’m working on and B & H Photo having the 2017 iPad 32 GB on sale for $299.00. I purchased two of them and bought one 128 GB 2017 iPad. Again, these are strictly for a project and not personal use. My personal update will come later with a purchase of the 10.5 iPad Pro to replace my original iPad 3G purchased in June 2010 as it is time for an update to catch up with the times.
Actually, should be thanking Apple. As it is the dividends profit that I am using to purchase the abnormal amount of iPads I would get at one sitting.
