Apple hits iPhone 8 ‘panic mode’? Get real

“A spate of breathless reports claim Apple is in some kind of ‘panic mode’ because some unannounced features of a product the company hasn’t yet announced are apparently behind some (unrevealed) schedule,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld. “It’s the same thing every year these days. It’s incredibly predictable.”

“It goes like this: Having reported every claimed product feature people then switch to criticizing all those features, and – when the shelf life on ‘anti-reports’ of this kind time out, the self-same sources swiftly shift to shuffling speculation saying such-and-such features will apparently be ‘delayed,'” Evans writes. “Seriously!”

Fast Company claims its Apple source is describing a ‘sense of panic’ inside the company as team’s rush to bring all the new technologies together,” Evans writes. “I’d argue that one person’s sense of panic is another person’s sense of excitement and/or optimism.”

MacDailyNews Take: As we just wrote of this “panic” report earlier this morning:

Silly season started early this year, so take this sort of stuff with many grains of salt!

As for inductive charging coming later: Big deal! As in: Not.

If you want so-called wireless charging*, you can add it (later; par for the course with Tim Cook’s Apple). Those who don’t want it won’t have to pay for it in the price of their iPhones.MacDailyNews, July 8, 2017

*Right now, the Apple Watch’s charging system is nice because it’s less fiddly, and especially useful in the dark, but it’s still essentially a wired charging system in practice. If Apple offers Q1-type charging, it’ll be fine, but will not be a big selling point – unless it offers considerably faster charging than today.MacDailyNews, April 27, 2017

  1. This just in, analist, bloggers and journalists are in pure panic mode because the headlines of “iPhone delay” doesn’t seem to be effective in manipulating the stock anymore so they have all consolidated to scream from high upon the mountains the latest fake news about Apple panicking about something or another.
“THE SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING”

  2. All of the above should be suffered to wear a “corrective collar” that rewards accurate prognostications with silence and BS with a shock.

Kinda a bark collar for the dogs they are.

    1. A while back there was a person posting to a website that kept track of both analysts’ predictions (hardware/software/shipping volumes/etc.), revenue, profits, etc.). I haven’t seen that in some time. I don’t know if it’s still out there.

Publicly showing how much BS floats around and pushed out by whom, would stifle some of these wild claims a tiny bit (well maybe just 0.01% or less, analysts being what they are).

  3. In terms of “wireless” charging it would nice, but if it’s akin to the Apple Watch I wouldn’t mind having one charger that can do both. I still wish the Apple Watch connector had just been a puck which you then plugged into a lightning cable so that you could potentially reduce the wires you use.

  4. Fake News with an agenda, as always. Isn’t it high time people got sick of being played for stupid??
Shumer is announcing new health care is catering to the rich, when my middle class premium under Obamacare went from $300 a month to $1,350 a month in the last 8 years.

  5. appppppppppppple is doooooooooooooooooomed
everybody already has a iPhone in the World
nobody will buy anything from Apple ever again…….

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Time to flush these turds…!!

  6. All this ruckus over an unannounced product. It’s downright sickening to have to put up with all this nonsense. All of this BS alone should be enough to scare potential Apple investors away from the stock. I honestly don’t understand the need for all this type of coverage. I’ve tracked other future products before and I’ve never seen such constant negative speculation about everything the coming product is supposed to have.

I swear, the Amazon Show came out with very little advance notice and there were never any problems mentioned about it beforehand. Not much has been mentioned about the Galaxy Note 8, either. Why would the heck a company be broadcasting problems with hardware and software before the product is introduced? How could outsiders even come close to knowing what’s going on internally with Apple’s pre-production prototypes? It’s just crazy.

  7. Fake news, manipulation , irresponsible journalism with zero accountability…
In an such environment what can one expect other then the anarchy ….. its the ‘wild west’ out there.

    Do your DD religiously .
Dont be swayed easly by BS.
