“The new iPhone is going to be shinier than ever, according to new rumours,” Andrew Griffin reports for The Independent.
“Apple’s new handset will come in a reflective, mirror-like finish alongside what are presumably more traditional choices, according to a repeated Apple leaker,” Griffin reports. “In all there will be four different finishes, according to Benjamin Geskin, who provided a mock-up of what the new phone might look like.”
“The picture showed a case that has the same mirrored, reflective effect as a demonstration of how the new phone might look,” Griffin reports. “Apple has added new finishes with each of its recent phones, and the current iPhone 7 comes in a full six different [finishes].”

MacDailyNews Take: Yes, a fingerprint magnet and nearly impossible to keep clean or cover with a case (just like our Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus units; Apple’s meticulously-designed iPhones aren’t meant to be hidden; naked iPhones only for us), but it’d be stunning and, very likely, the finish we’d all choose!
Looks cool but I don’t care. Will disappear in a cover anyway. All I care about is how the front looks (black, not white).

I don’t get why they like gloss. It only looks good in a showcase. Reality will have it covered in fingerprints or a case- so why bother? Very strange (I’ve never understood this)…
Yup, it’s just a repeat of the clear-plastic extended keyboard Apple shipped with desktop Macs around 2000. They look great… for a month. Then all the dust and food and hair and stuff that falls in between the keys show up under the clear plastic and it looks grungy as all heck.
Except the keyboard was never meant to stand on its own as a flagship product. The iPhone is. Without a case or cover, this kind of finish will easily scratch and look incredibly worn in short order.
Oh, I had one f those and you are absolutely right! The keyboard looked awful after a couple of months. I do miss the good feel that it had, though. Never been a fan of the flat-key keyboards.

Surely if the whole back was mirror finish they’d make the logo matte rather than having a stupid circle around it?
