“It was 1989 when I started using my first Apple computer, the Macintosh SE with an external 20 MB hard drive, and since then I’ve had an assortment of Apple devices,” Matthew Miller writes for ZDNet. “A few years ago I moved to the Microsoft Surface Pro line for my primary computer, but have been thinking of going back to a MacBook.”

“There have been distinct differences between MacOS and iOS, but with the upcoming iOS 11 those lines are blurring more and more,” Miller writes. “Thanks to iOS 11 shown off at WWDC 2017, I decided to purchase a new iPad Pro 10.5 instead of the more expensive MacBook Pro.”
“I’ve been using the iPad Pro 10.5 for several days and am pleased to have an Apple computing device, besides my iPhone 7 Plus, back in my hands,” Miller writes. “As I look across the apps and documents I have stored on my Surface Pro 4, I think an iPad Pro may be able to do everything with an OS that is extremely responsive and fun to use… If my trials work out as I anticipate, I may even consider switching out the 10.5 for teh 12.9 inch display model.”

For some, not for us truck drivers. As always many iOS & macOS device options should be available for and cater to ALL.
I’m also trucker. But lately I’m wondering if the truck is what I’m used it to be.
Give me iOS Logic, Ableton and Affinity Designer (Photo is not enough) and I kiss MBP goodbye!

I know, but it’s not enough for me – I need the Designer even more (as most graphic-web-ux designers I guess). I think it’s close, just not here yet.
I would even say that the Designer is the app that Serif should have ported to iOS first (like – I hope – Sketch and XD folks are going to).
One critical difference for me is that when I delete a photo from my iPhone (or iPad) they’ve already been backed up to DropBox and are safe. Not so with iCloud. When you delete a photo from your device, it’s also gone from iCloud. ICloud is extremely useful to me but DropBox, I think, is actually more functional overall.

So all I have to do is quote one of the numerous articles I’ve read of someone who switched to a surface after years on an MBP and hasn’t looked back, then say “because the MacBook Pro sucks compared to the surface.” Yay, I win! So juvenile guys.
Let’s look at the real world: I have multiple MBP users at my work who watch me use the SP4 do things like “flick” windows onto one monitor or another with a swipe of 5 fingers; snap pictures of web pages by clicking on my pen top, write on them, and email them to someone; then I simply disconnect my SP4 and start writing notes on it in a meeting. if they weren’t so scared of betraying apple like you clowns, they would switch, because they’ve said things like “wow that’s pretty cool” (translation: i’d love to have that device but I’m SOOOO scared of leaving my Apple pimp!)
You guys are sad.

Yesterday I wanted to watch a fan edit of the hobbit on my big screen projector. Pull up their google drive, Stream it to my surface, plug it into hdmi on the projector, and I’m watching the hobbit in 120″! Liked it so much that I wanted a local copy – no problem. Download it, and since its 6 GB, put it in one of my external micro sd cards where I store many movies like this without sucking away any of the surface’s main storage. No need to .. I have options.
IPad pro? SPLAT. (Sound of it falling on its butt.)

Joshua Topolsky, former editor-in-chief of The Verge and Engadget released a few tweets which will attract Apple fanboy suicide bombers in droves..“If you think you can replace you laptop with this setup, you cannot. Imagine a computer, but everything works worse than you expect. That is the new iPad”..
“I have no doubt it’s a very powerful piece of hardware, and the screen is gorgeous. Garageband is a lot of fun to play with. But this doesn’t COME CLOSE to replacing your laptop, even for simple things you do, like email”..
He adds that Apple’s keyboard cover is “a f#%! atrocity. A terrible piece of hardware. Awkward to use, poor as a cover. Okay in a pinch if you need something LIKE a keyboard.”..
