“Messages sent to the smartphone wasn’t reach the iMac,” Sellers writes, “something I find very convenient when working at my home office.”

Sellers writes, “If you run into this problem, here’s how to fix it…”

Easy instructions for fixing this issue here.

MacDailyNews Take: We run into this issue with some regularity with family and friends who get a new Mac, iPhone, or iPad. It’s simple to fix and definitely a much better ecosystem experience when Messages is syncing across devices as intended.

  1. Beyond the steps listed, you will also want to navigate into: Settings | Messages | Text Message Forwarding | and ensure that all your devices are enabled from here. This allows you to also send and receive SMS text messages to non Apple Messages users.

  2. It may be simple to fix, but the only people who will do that are nerds like us who read these sites. The rest of the billion iphone owners out there will never even know that this is possible. And if you think this is the only case, google for articles on how to make handover or universal clipboard actually work. More “simple fixes” that should not even exist. Let’s just call this what it is. Bad design.
