“I have the high end model that comes with a 3.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, Radeon Pro 580 graphics card with 8GB of view memory, graphics and a 2TB Fusion Drive. However, I quadruped the standard amount of RAM [to 64GB],” Sellers writes. “Performance is quiet and smooth with no lag even when I have seven apps running in the background as I edit a video in iMovie.”

MacDailyNews Take: This is, of course, debatable. “Best Mac ever” means different things to different people:
Our own SteveJack says, “My ‘best Mac ever’ is my favorite Mac ever: The 11-inch MacBook Air (loaded). Simply because it’s the most fun Mac I’ve ever used day in and day out while on the go. It’s certainly not the most powerful. It doesn’t have the greatest display. But, it slips into my backpack, onto tray tables, and pretty much everywhere and it always just works.”
But, certainly, the latest iMac has a rightful claim to being the “best Mac ever.” What’s yours?
Never owned an iMac but I’m planning on getting one later this year. Several reasons why I’m going to try it over my MBP. The biggest being that I’m not going to need the mobility of the MBP anymore.
It wonder if Apple will ever have a version of the Wireless Apple Keyboard (with Numeric Keyboard) with the Touch Bar at the top?

I’m holding out for the base model iMac Pro over the highest-specced iMac. I want that 8-core CPU and Vega GPU which should shrug off anything I can throw at it. I can hardly wait until December.
My 2012 27″ maxed iMac is my first Mac, not only is it my favorite Mac, it is BY FAR the best computer I’ve ever used.
I’ll probably wait until fall to replace it but the current iMac lineup looks awfully sweet……..

OMG I can’t believe he would buy that amazing machine without putting at least a 512 SSD. Seems like he bought a Tesla and put bicycle wheels on it. Fusion drive or no it just seems wrong.
I have to agree with you on that–a Fusion Drive when he could have added a 512 SSD for the max at this date. Only I saw it as the new Lexus coupe CL at $110,000 driving on four Energizer D batteries with the Pink Bunny banging his drum (of couse the batteries would be out of date since the bunny is no longer seen in the U.S.). It just didn’t make sense. Hopefully, he will come to his senses, see the way to wisdom and make the right choice.
Maybe next summer I’ll finally move on from a 2008 iMac, which I bought nine years ago this month. As it is, with my modest demands, I spend more time on my iPad 4th gen.
