“The 14th major version of Apple’s Mac operating system, High Sierra is currently going through beta testing in order to ship this fall,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld.
“The OS (aka macOS 10.13) has a range of under-the-hood technology improvements, including an all-new 64-bit Apple File System,” Evans writes. “This has its own useful consequences for enterprise users, including speed, performance, and security.”
“Tens of thousands of Macs will be deployed across enterprises this year. Apple has taken some big steps to try to make it easier for enterprise IT to manage large Mac deployments with a range of management and configuration improvements,” Evans writes. “Some I’ve discussed in more detail below, but deployment should be eased with the introduction of 802.1X ethernet configuration, firmware password and user account management tools, and the ability to delay software updates for up to 90 days so IT crews can test these releases.”

Too bad Mac Server has slowly been downgrading since Snow Leopard Server.
Yes, but so have the X-Serve and X-Raids.
Remember when OS X first came out? They said the same thing in 1999. Hopefully macOS can get some footing after 20 years. Then again, I don’t like people using my cool Mac software. I like them to suffer on Windows.
And Windows users have “suffered” for decades.
And Apple has failed to make inroads for decades.
How’s it feel to be a loser?
It goes without saying it’s a question you have to ask yourself when you look in the mirror every morning responding alone in the affirmative.
I doubt “enterprise” will consider High Sierra if “enterprise” can’t use Office well with High Sierra.
Bottom line is: Windows owns the enterprise world. You may not like it, but that is a cold and hard fact. Move on.
I hate to burst your bubble, but Windows doesn’t even control 50% of the enterprise any longer. i work for one of the largest companies in the world and 10 years ago we were 90/10 PC to mac. now we are closer to 35/65 pc to mac. and this is a fortune 50 company with over 150K employees!! and it’s not the old boys hangin onto their PC’s. all the C-level employees here have iphones and want that same experience so they all have MBP’s now. and it’s not just here, i’ve seen this change in most of the fortune 100 companies i have supported over the last decade or so. so yeah, 10 years ago, Windows ruled. all that changed with the onset of the iphone when users realized they could have that same experience on their laptops too.
