“It’s so mature now that I don’t think performance will be an issue for anyone this side of a creative pro who lives on multiple cores and discreet graphics,” Ritchie writes. “If portability remains more important to you than power or price, and if you’ve always wanted something as small as an iPad but that opened up into a full clamshell running full macOS, then the 12-inch MacBook is for you. And the 2017 version isn’t just better. It’s surprisingly better.”

MacDailyNews Take: These new MacBooks would be our next road machines, but the new iPad Pro models and iOS 11 are complicating matters to high degree. Decisions, decisions… We’re sure Apple would be happy with either conclusion (as, we suspect, would we). Maybe both? 😉

If this had two ports I would definitely have bought one by now. As it is, I’ll stick with my Air for the present.
I used to use an Air, but I never used any of the ports beyond the charging port. MacBook is perfect for me – small, light, travelling Mac. If you need more ports, Apple offers other options, of course.
Don’t waste your time with the 12″ MacBook. The 13″ MacBook Pro is a better bargain and is plenty portable.
That’s the one (sans touchbar) I’ll probably go for to replace my Air, but the 256GB model with 16GB RAM and the better processor is $1999 pre tax, too much for now.

Can’t wait for the Mac Pro, then high end users will be enjoying themselves weighing the pro and cons vs the iMac Pro.
At last maybe Apple is turning the corner on focusing back on products…

besides hardware WWDC software announcements were pretty good too. Too bad Wallstreet analysts don’t get it and pushed the stock down…
Sorry MacBook but 1 port is just not good enough. Not today. No reason we can’t have at least 2 ports. Its 2017 There should be a separate charging port with the magsafe and then we need at least 1 usb port for other things. I like to plug my phone in to DL pictures when we travel. I mean would 1 more port really make it weigh anymore?
