Politics may upstage Apple’s Big WWDC announcements

“Apple will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, where management typically unveils what has already been leaked to the tech media and blogosphere. There could still be some surprises,” Investor’s Business Daily reports. “But looming over the gadget chatter as well as earnings from highly rated companies Ambarella, Dave & Buster’s and HealthEquity is the possibility of new political bombshells. Ex-FBI Director James Comey will testify on Thursday, which is also when the U.K. will hold a snap election.”

“The consumer electronics giant reportedly has begun production on a voice-response smart speaker that will use its Siri personal assistant,” Investor’s Business Daily reports. “Also at WWDC, Apple is expected to show off iOS 11, the next version of its mobile operating system, and new health-focused software for the Apple Watch. Apple also could introduce upgraded Mac computers and a new Apple TV set-top box, analysts say.”

Former U.S. FBI Director James Comey
“Just a month after President Trump fired him, the ousted FBI chief will appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee, where he is expected to say that Trump asked him to end an investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn,” Investor’s Business Daily reports. “Remember that on May 17 the Dow Jones industrial average suffered its worst drop since September following reports that Comey wrote a memo alleging Trump wanted him to quash the Flynn probe… [Also] Britons will go to the polls on Thursday, after Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap election in April, gambling that a vote three years early would result in a bigger Conservative majority and strengthen her hand as she negotiates Britain’s exit from the European Union.”

MacDailyNews Take: Something tells us that while WWDC 2017 might not be able to trump all of the news, what looks to be a jam-packed keynote should be able to hold its own, certainly topping the tech news of the day, the week, and beyond.

  1. Good, take it off the front page. It’s good for nothing but whining from “analysts” who didn’t get their “rumor/leak” confirmed and they’re stuck looking like the idiots they really are.

    1. If you think Bobby 3-sticks is crooked you’re fucking stupid. His reputation is beyond reproach, and your guy’s deputy AG appointed him. Get your head out of your collective asses. Orange jump suits are coming for the orange faced international embarrassment.

        1. No, he says he has “tapes”. Since nearly everything out of his mouth is false, why should we believe that? But Comey has memos of every single conversation he had with the orange faced international embarrassment, and if there’s are “tapes” a la Nixon? He will have to turn them over, and they could easily incriminate him. Also who’s to say Comey wasn’t wearing a wire since he saw himself as a witness? The Orange faced international embarrassment is screwed and they all know it, Flynn probably already flipped to save his own ass.

        2. PS: Memos are hearsay evidence, they have zero legal bearing in a court. Dirty Comey can write anything and say that’s what happened, it is only his personal impression.

        3. Federal Rules of Evidence
          Contemporaneous Notes
Rule 803. Exceptions to the Rule Against Hearsay:
The following are not excluded by the rule against hearsay, regardless of whether the declarant is available as a witness:
          (5) Recorded Recollection. A record that:
          (A) is on a matter the witness once knew about but now cannot recall well enough to testify fully and accurately;
          (B) was made or adopted by the witness when the matter was fresh in the witness’s memory; and
          (C) accurately reflects the witness’s knowledge.

        4. The Plantation Party is doomed and you know it…the current Russian horseshit if the gurgling of its death rattle.

2018 midterms are going to be a bloodbath.

        5. Do you realize how dumb this statement is? I have just laid out the facts regarding the evidentiary value of contemporaneous notes based on the Federal Rules of Evidence and you still don’t get it?!?! It’s not a question of zealotry, it’s a question of SIMPLE facts which have just flown over your low brow.
A zealot is likely to ignore facts like, well, FREAKING FACTUAL STATEMENTS ABOUT evidentiary value of contemporaneous notes.
Its low IQ plus yours doesn’t punch through 100.

        6. “No, he says he has “tapes”.

“But Comey has memos of every single conversation he had …”

You have ZERO evidence of either statement. WISHFUL liberal opinion does not suddenly become reality. Or change reality because you don’t believe the tapes exist. You should remember that.

I prefer orange over rose color, any day …

        7. MDN used to be my favorite APPLE forum actually interesting exchanges on tech topics until you (and I give you full personal credit) did so much to turn it into yet another of the polarized political rhetoric back and forth discussion sites littering the web where invective gets passed back forth, nothing ever gets settled, heat drowns out light, and the topics at hand get lost in the ideological sidetracks.

          Credit where due. Props. /s

        8. @ Ice Cowboy: Agreed. I am so weary of the politics. I come her partially to escape that, and get an Apple news-fix as well as educated Apple discussion.

    2. Here’s “dirty” Mueller’s background.
      St. Paul’s School
      Princeton University
      M.A. New York University
J.D., University of Virginia School of Law
Mueller enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968, attended officer candidate school, Army Ranger School and Army jump school. He then served as an officer leading a rifle platoon of the 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War;he eventually became aide-de-camp to 3rd Marine Division’s commanding general. He received the Bronze Star, two Commendation Medals, the Purple Heart and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
My money is on “dirty” Mueller to find out what, if anything, was going on.

        1. If, indeed, Dirty Comey had a private meeting with Mueller before next week’s testimony (UNDER OATH), that, also by definition is collusion as Dirty Comey is part of his “investigation.” That being the case, St. Mueller of Princeton should immediately recuse himself.

        2. Yup, Princeton bit you right in the ass. Perfect.
PS, seems that you’ve dropped your age info before, tell the readers about your Viet Nam service, you know, when you volunteered for OCS in Quantico, exited a 2nd L. and command a platoon.
PS, spiff up your sentence construction:
“Dirty Comey and Mueller have spent..”
Oh, right, I’m supposed to say, “spiff up your sentence construction jack ass”, better?

        3. I said Dirty Comey not Dirty Mueller, in your pathetic fervor to discredit my comment you misquoted me. Man-up and admit it for once in your life.

        4. Here, let me help. You appear to be saying that you wish to designate Comey as “dirty” rather than Mueller as well. Therefore, here is a clearer way of making that statement: “Mueller and dirty Comey spent…” This makes your opinion clear. There, I’ve sprinkled a little knowledge your way, no charge.

  2. Tuck Fim Cook,
Give us back Apple that cares more about its products and its customers than how much grass they plant on store roofs or that they planted 7000 trees at the new HQ ( after removing 4000).

    1. Yes…it’s beyond reasonable that Apple expects to realize SJ’s vision and wishes for the new HQ. How dare it spend it’s own money anyway it is required to do, in fulfillment of a tribute to its founder and charismatic former leader.
      Shocking behaviour.

        1. Call me crazy (as aapl mkt valuation has crossed over $800,000,000,000) but I don’t see their upper management getting replaced any time soon. If you want to complain about the new building, send a letter to aapl. Grousing anonymously here won’t get you what you want.

        2. this “person” will never get what they want, since they want Apple to cater to him…..

Unfortunately for him, Apple caters to ALL shareholders, all employees, all customers, and the planet in general (environmental work)

This guy just can’t get his all so bitch bitch bitch

          Selfish

  3. Can’t expect new, improved, and technologically superior Macs and other high tech devices and softwares; but we can all listen to pouting, whining, and lecturing from the libtard elitists.

    1. This is interesting. Listen up down voting Libtards.

I was responding to three MDN threads simultaneously early morning and the above comment was misplaced and meant for another thread to respond to SC.

Read it again. Makes no sense on this issue. And lo and behold instantly 20 one-star down votes. Well thank you for proving what I and others have long suspected.

Rigged, dishonest — FAKE VOTES! 😡

The saddest part of your collective deceit, aside from your lack of conscience and sense of fair play, you are proud of your despicable actions.

Well, your efforts only fool the rest of the fools and I could not care less … 😎
