Lunch with Apple CEO Cook charity auction raises record $688,999 for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights

“An auction offering lunch with Apple CEO Tim Cook has officially ended, raising $688,999 for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights — the highest amount ever in a series of such auctions with Cook,” Roger Fingas reports for AppleInsider.

“The anonymous winner and a guest will get a one-hour meal with the CEO at Apple Park, though they’ll have to pay for any associated travel and accommodation costs,” Fingas reports. “The company is notably excluding a reward from past auctions, which let winners attend an upcoming Apple press event.”

Fingas reports, “Prior to today, the highest amount generated in one of the Cook lunch auctions was $610,000, raised during the first one back in 2013.”

  1. Perhaps Mr. Cook will share some heart-warming anecdotes at lunch regarding the “human rights” of American employees replaced by H1-B foreign workers at half their salaries.

Robert Kennedy wouldn’t pîss on Tim Cook if his äss was on fire. Both John and Robert were devout defenders of American sovereignty.

    1. Given ‘your’ history of hysterically insulting Tim Cook for everything under the sun, homophobic slurs and generally nauseous behaviour, I doubt he would even pause to scrape you off his shoe. And he’d be right.

    2. botvinnik,

There are certainly examples of H1-B abuse involving other employers. But do you have any verified examples of Apple replacing an American-citizen employee with a foreign worker at half the salary?

If not, why are you blaming the CEO of Apple for a government policy that is mostly being abused by contract labor firms from India?

I’m also interested in your reasoning as to how enabling American companies to make more American dollars by (arguably) exploiting foreign labor impairs American sovereignty. It may cost American jobs, of course, but I’m not clear what that has to do with sovereignty if the people making the bulk of the money from the policy are American.

    3. It’s obvious you have a shit ring qaround your mouth. Let’s see if it matches Drumpy’s ass.

      Perfect fit. I knew it.

We’re gonna take the money and have a gay march on your street that ends with you exercising your constitutional sphincter rights.

  2. “they’ll have to pay for any associated travel and accommodation costs”

I very much doubt travel and accommodation costs were at all an issue for the winning bidder.
