“UBS’s Steven Milunovich consulted with two notable Apple Inc. experts to gain further perspective on the company’s outlook,” Jayson Derrick reports for Benzinga. “The analyst met with Asymco’s Horace Dediu and Above Avalon’s Neil Cybart, both of whom are positive on Apple’s business.”
“Dediu highlighted the fact that the automotive market is valued at anywhere from $5 trillion to $15 trillion, which makes it larger than the IT or healthcare markets,” Derrick reports. “Cybart even said, ‘Transportation is Apple’s future’ and Apple’s secretive ‘Project Titan’ could be a transportation platform — not a car but the ‘entire experience.'”

I remember when promoting vapor ware was condemned as the worst form of fanboyism.
It’s only vaporware if the company has said it is planning to release a product.
Apple has not confirmed any details of what they are doing; therefore it isn”t vaporware; it’s ANALysts’ speculation.
Vapor ware is vapor ware irrespective of the source.

Then again, one does wonder what Apple does with its R&D budget. They seem so slow, maybe these days they are just too lazy to even offer release announcements, let alone real hardware other than the annual iPhone.

Is Apple building a HomeKit for cars? An Apple car? A robot taxi service (leading from their investment in that ride hailing service in China) ? What happened to the story about Mansfield giving the whole thing a 2 year deadline or cancellation stuff? Conflicting stories of new hires and massive layoffs.

Apple is known for designing complete products that they have made for their own retail sale.
It is hard to think that Apple could sell subsystems to auto makers and be anything but one of a half dozen similar suppliers.

I’ve said for many years that it makes no sense for Apple to build a car. It makes great sense for them to build the tech of all cars.
The vaporware Apple Car that MDN loves to trot out as some evidence of forward thinking at Apple smells exactly as putrid as Gene Munster’s Apple TV.
Cook couldn’t change the world with innovative game changing products if he had $200 billion to work with. Which he does. Cook as an incremental timid industrialist more interested in cash accumulation than great products.
Apple is building personal space ships, easy to use, not like that complex monstrosity from Musk who charges exhorbitant fees, so Apple Titan is a “Space-Kit” for developers to make it usable for the rest of us.
Game changing is not in Cook + Ive DNA.
Game refining? I think “the crazy ones” have long since moved on to perform innovative magic elsewhere.
