Case-maker preps case for 10.5-inch iPad Pro, with June availability

“Case manufacturer Urban Armor Gear appears to be preparing a case for the rumored 10.5-inch iPad Pro,” Ben Lovejoy reports for 9to5Mac. “A stock system at an Apple Authorized Reseller shared with 9to5Mac shows a UAG Metropolis Folio Case ‘for iPad 10.5-inch’ in three color combinations, with availability listed as June 2017.”

“The evidence for a new 10.5-inch iPad model is pretty persuasive,” Lovejoy reports. “A KGI report back in August of last year first said that the new model was in the works, alongside a new low-cost 9.7-inch iPad. That latter model was of course launched in March.”

MacDailyNews Take: As Lovejoy notes, “it’s not unusual for case manufacturers to plan new products – and even manufacture them – on the basis of rumors.” Or maybe we’ll be getting at least one new iPad around about WWDC.

  1. It’s why I held off on buying this new basic lower priced iPad until I could see this 10.5″ one. My iPad 3 is in desperate need of replacement but it’s nice to see all the options, even if they will be a bit pricier. I use my iPad constantly.

  2. Hmmm.. about to get iPad Pro at $100 off at Best Buy- my iPad 4 is giving me heartburn. Waiting to spend the big bucks on iMac Pro. But if new iPad shows in a few weeks… Then again, if I had realized I’d be waiting this long for a “refresh” of my old, dead iMac, I’d have had one by now. Can’t run Logic on my phone or iPad- any iPad. Maybe waiting is almost always a bad idea- buy what you need Today.

  3. Sounds good, but w 10.5″ iPad Pro wouldn’t do it for me. Have been planning for some time on getting a 12.9 iPad Pro for a creative project. I’ll be using it for drawing tablet-type input so I need real estate.

I can wait for a while and have held off since I figure a refresh is likely soon. Might as well go for the latest and greatest. Hopefully a 12.9 refresh will show up with this rumored 10.5 model.
