“Apple today sent out invites to press for its upcoming WWDC 2017 event scheduled for June, confirming that it will host a keynote address as usual on June 5 to kick off the event,” Jordan Kahn reports for 9to5Mac.
“Apple’s keynote event will take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, the venue that will also host the rest of the developer conference as previously announced by Apple,” Kahn reports. “he location is a change from a few venues it has used frequently in San Francisco for the conference in the past.”
Kahn reports, “The keynote is scheduled for [10am PDT / 1pm EDT] on June 5.”

So, about the Mac Pro….
There seems to be a very vocal group on MDN that really want an upgrade to the Mac Pro. Can I ask if anyone knows how many Mac Pros are sold annually or what percentage of total revenues they represent? Is it possible that the piece of the pie represented by the Mac Pro just doesn’t justify the R&D?
Further, the current Mac Pro seems like a beast to me (the above average user). Are you guys wanting even more power and performance? And if you are, how many of you are out there that would plop down over $4,000 for one?
My post is not intended to demean or criticize. I’m honestly unfamiliar with the arguments beyond “we want a new one”. And, as an investor and significant shareholder, I’m genuinely interested. Thanks.
Pirate: a very valid question, that in the end may result in the death of the “work station.” Almost as significant though is it would mean Apple “saying goodbye” to the creative sector that long been the most devoted/committed symbiotic relationship. It’s for this reason I don’t think Apple’s “work station” is dead…it’s just been undesirably ignored for an abnormally long time. Steve embraced the phrase, “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently.” Not to be too presumptuous to know exactly his view, but the “creatives” are a huge part of that thinking.

One hopes that Apple offers a meā culpā No. 2 over the Mac desktop hardware fiasco. In the face of deafening criticism and no doubt avalanches of angry emails, letters and feedback from Apple Stores, let’s hope they do some fancy foot work and ditch the totally absurd 2018 timeframe for a new Mac Pro and preview a prototype for delivery later this year.
… But then I woke up and realised this wonderous turn of events was just a dream.
