  1. :::BREAKING NEWS:::
    Cupertino CA (Reuters) – Apple CEO, Pipeline Timmy, has announced that WWDC will be postponed until August 9th, 2018. The charismatic Cook claims there is insufficient lead time to properly rehearse his always scintillating, paradigm-changing keynote speech will be required.

    Apple regrets this delay.

    1. :::BREAKING NEWS:::
      Cupertino CA (Reuters) – In a related story the new Mac Pro 2019 (2020?) will not be ready in time for WWDC August 9th, 2018. We don’t regret this development but we do apologize for the massive inconvenience by paying customers in desperate need from way back in 2014.

      :::MORE BREAKING NEWS:::
      Redmond WA (Reuters) – Apple Mac Pro users today flee to PC Workstations following Apple’s WWDC delay announcement causing a massive order bump for PC suppliers. Film industry editor Alan Smithee said “Oh man we are DYING. We just gotta get our work done with usable upgradeable machines but Apple is doing a design circle jerk. What happened to them man? Jony Ive is a clueless design looney out of control! We don’t care about svelte & minimalist forms depriving us of options!! Talk about completely misreading the pro market. Hello PC Workstation, my new best friend.”

      But good news Apple fans, Tim Cook also announces new Watch band colors and textures. You know, the easy stuff.

  2. So, about the Mac Pro….

    There seems to be a very vocal group on MDN that really want an upgrade to the Mac Pro. Can I ask if anyone knows how many Mac Pros are sold annually or what percentage of total revenues they represent? Is it possible that the piece of the pie represented by the Mac Pro just doesn’t justify the R&D?

    Further, the current Mac Pro seems like a beast to me (the above average user). Are you guys wanting even more power and performance? And if you are, how many of you are out there that would plop down over $4,000 for one?

    My post is not intended to demean or criticize. I’m honestly unfamiliar with the arguments beyond “we want a new one”. And, as an investor and significant shareholder, I’m genuinely interested. Thanks.

    1. Pirate: a very valid question, that in the end may result in the death of the “work station.” Almost as significant though is it would mean Apple “saying goodbye” to the creative sector that long been the most devoted/committed symbiotic relationship. It’s for this reason I don’t think Apple’s “work station” is dead…it’s just been undesirably ignored for an abnormally long time. Steve embraced the phrase, “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently.” Not to be too presumptuous to know exactly his view, but the “creatives” are a huge part of that thinking.

    2. Mindshare in the professional creative community.

      It’s what made the Mac – and Apple – iconic.

      If trucks are still important, a semi is still the biggest hauler.

  3. One hopes that Apple offers a meā culpā No. 2 over the Mac desktop hardware fiasco. In the face of deafening criticism and no doubt avalanches of angry emails, letters and feedback from Apple Stores, let’s hope they do some fancy foot work and ditch the totally absurd 2018 timeframe for a new Mac Pro and preview a prototype for delivery later this year.
    … But then I woke up and realised this wonderous turn of events was just a dream.
