“Three boaters can thank Apple’s Siri for saving their lives,” WFTX-TV reports.
“The fishermen ran into rough seas about four miles off the coast of Key Biscayne Saturday morning,” WFTX-TV reports. “Police said one of the boaters couldn’t use his phone’s screen to call 911, so he turned to Siri for help.”
“‘They had an iPhone 7, which I’m learning today is waterproof. However, he couldn’t touch the screen with his fingers because they were cold, but he used Siri to call 911,’ said Sgt. James Barrett,” WFTX-TV reports.

While SamSplode is trying to take lives Apple Siri is saving them.
Sounds like these “sailors” were in over their head and unprepared.
Hence the term “boaters.”
They should have used a weather app, there are a lot of free ones. Weather Underground even has charts (maps for boating) for a small fee. Great one, use it all the time. There are tide apps that are simple and useful. My iPhone has made boating much safer. Unfortunately 911 has made people more irresponsible, however they are alive. In Venice FL there is a small boat named “Call 911” written upside down; funny as hell.
Siri, could you reef the main, set a course for Key Biscayne and wake me with a low foam latte when we are two miles from shore please. Thanks
