    1. Bit late for that I guess unless the iPhone 8 is to be delayed at least a year or wireless charging dropped altogether. No doubt Tim will get all John Wayne for a bit mind.

    1. I am going to by two! xD

      😉

But seriously. This Powermat hasn´t learn anything from the past. Apple can ax you faster than you think.

This wireless charging is a gimick because you need this “mat” to be connected to a wall pluck anyways. I have had several “charging stations” in my house and at work since first iPhone. Nowadays one is next to my bed and charges the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch. One is in the living room and one is at work next to my computer. Then she has the same thing her side of the bed plus at work plus in the living room etc. The “mat” does not change anything because the iPhone has to be on top of it and it is actually worse because it would be horizontal not upright as it is now.

The wireless has to be really wireless like the ways Nicola Tesla was thinking. Then it would be super thing. Now it is just a gimick and not worth it. Apple watch has it yes because for that it is question of water resistance and it does not require the amounts of power that the other products needs (being slow way to recharge and wastes lots of energy).

        1. how are lightning ports industry standard when they are only on the apple iphone?

industry standard would be USB-C to and agreed upon spec.

how’s the view through those bars?

        2. Yeah, that and every other mobile device made by Apple. In other words, a majority of the mobile devices out there.
It’s no secret that Apple invented USB-C when they created Lightning and turned it over to the standards bodies. I like C lot, on my MacBook Pro. I wouldn’t have a problem with it on the iPhone, but since Apple likes to make everything smaller and thinner, I don’t see them replacing the Lightning connector. And I sure as hell hope they don’t replace it with a wireless solution.

  1. I hope it is not true. I’d rather use a cable. With a wireless charger I can’t use my phone while it is charging. If you travel do you have to carry around a bulky charging gadget? Ugh.

    1. Apple’s vision – like Tesla’s – is apparently of a “power field” which encompasses a fairly large area, rather than simple inductive charging (like PowerMat). Thus, you could be sitting in your chair, holding and using your device, while it’s charging from the AirPower™ station across the room.

Yes, you heard it here first. 🙂
