How President Trump can get another win

“Today, stocks were up nicely, the dollar was stronger, and yields ticked up — all reflective of some of the chatter on the wires out of Washington,” Bryan Rich writes for Forbes. “The pushed back timeline on tax reform has been one of the heavier weights on markets since health care reform negotiations fell apart last month. Prior to that, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin and Speaker Paul Ryan had both said health care reform had to come before tax reform.”

“Now Mnuchin is saying tax reform will happen whether health care is done or not. But he’s also managed expectations on something coming by August–now he says before the end of the year, and he says it will be significant,” Rich writes. “Trump, and the economy, need a win to keep momentum going in the right direction. They could get a win by fast tracking plans to give a tax break to trillions of dollars of corporate money that is parked overseas.”

“Even at a flat 10% tax on money coming back in, that’s money they are already earmarking to help pay for an infrastructure spend,” Rich writes. “Getting that in motion would drive employment, wages, investment and growth–all things that can be bolstered further by tax reform and health care reform later.”

MacDailyNews Take: As we wrote last year, prior to the election:

Let’s not do another “one-time-only” (smirk) repatriation holiday. Let’s fix the broken U.S. corporate tax code instead. Let us eschew the easy way out, that fixes nothing in the long run, and choose to do the hard work instead.

  1. A win for him is a loss for us and the world. He must be impeached- his entire regime and party are guilty of treason, maliciousness, incompetence, and cowardice. His supporters blind, deaf, and dumb. He flirts with war, is an embarrassment to us all. Yet he’s only the tip of the iceberg- God help us all.

Don’t worry. No matter which goofball (Bernie? Pocahontas? Schumer? Pelosi?) you run next time, Trump will win easily.

      1. Well said, Nick.

It is unbelievable to me AuraLib sees ZERO wrong with Clinton and Obama and as you say projects their faults onto a competent administration.

Clueless, self delusional and wishful Lubtard thinking. Did I say thinking? Not! All traits the enemy of reality for a sane person living in Realville …

        1. Civil war? Earth to Dave H, come in please. We are living in the 21st century.

No, Nick is not 10 and if he was he makes more sense than you.

You did not disagree one atomic particle with his post and closed with a childless expletive. Thanks for nothing …

    2. Funny title for the article. One first has to have a “win”before one can have “another win.” The TRUMPanzee in Chief has visited Mar-a-lago lot and played a lot of golf. He has issued a lot of Executive Orders, mostly targeted studies and “loosening” directives. Lately he has received some approval for being aggressive and dropping bombs. TRUMPanzee likes approval, so you will see more bombs and troops and wars in the future.

  2. “Today, stocks were up nicely”…. Thats weird, last time I checked, the stock market was down.
..missing something? or he just lies? …scratching head……

  3. President Trump’s wins (partial list):

    • Halted $181 billion in Regulatory Costs on First Day in Office
    • Hiring freeze on nonessential federal workers
    • Killed TTP
    • Dow up 2,300 since President Trump’s election
    • Executive order to kill 2 regulations for every new one imposed
    • Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch
    • Measurable surge in optimism
    • MOAB on ISIS
    • 59 Tomahawks on Syria over Assad’s latest chemical weapons attack
    • World on notice the U.S. is not run by a pushover anymore
    • Trump frees Egyptian-American charity worker who was imprisoned for three years in Cairo

    1. • Point 1: BS. On Jan 20, 2017, Trump signed an executive order stating that his administration would seek to repeal Obamacare. Trump failed spectacularly since then. No other executive orders were formally signed that day.

      • Hiring freeze on nonessential federal workers is causing major issues as hundreds of departments that are important are waiting for leadership appointments.

      • Killed TTP – that is interesting since the business community hates slow bilateral trade relations which result in inconsitent patchwork trade rules. But we all know the TPP was dead in congress long before Trump showed up.

      • Dow up 2,300 since President Trump’s election – funny, how much did the Dow increase in Obama’s administration? Why didn’t you ever give him credit for the stock market surge since 2009?

      • Executive order to kill 2 regulations for every new one imposed
This is a completely null and void press event because only Congress can enact regulations. Trump doesn’t even understand his role in government.

      • Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch
Appointed only thanks to idiot senator McConnell filibustering for months and then destroying the rules of the senate, blocking a qualified moderate centrist judge from even being brought up to vote. This is corruption of the democratic process, pure and simple.

      • Measurable surge in optimism — HA HA HA. Very funny. US tourist industry is bracing for the worse summer in recent times. Wall Street is holding its breath. Bombs are falling, and N. Korea is sabre rattling again. Some optimism that.

      • MOAB on ISIS is in violation of international law and could result in legal ramifications if Afghanistan chose to pursue damages.

      • 59 Tomahawks on Syria over Assad’s latest chemical weapons attack is an act of war and will open up the USA to counter attacks.

      • World on notice the U.S. is not run by a pushover anymore. When was it that the USA was ever a pushover? Fat, lazy, and undereducated on average, yes. That alone makes the nation hard to budge.

      • Trump frees Egyptian-American charity worker who was imprisoned for three years in Cairo
Well that was his first substantial positive accomplishment yet.

Up next week: pending government shutdown as the obstructionist congress and the clueless executive, being in the same party, still can’t figure out a workable budget. Let alone balance it.

      1. lol….Mike, you gotta long eight years of lying to yourself ahead….I especially liked “completely null and void press event because only Congress can enact regulations.”

but, hey, like Maxine says: “Stay woke!”

    2. Excellent list of accomplishments!

I Iive in a Democrat county (3-1) voter registration edge. Most Dems I know either voted for Trump or cheering him on now.

The day to day vibe around here is totally different. Particularly compared against the least eight years of a pseudo pinhead PC professor malaise . We now have a strong imperial leader willing to stand up to the world and do what’s right for our country.

      Thank you, President Trump …

    3. Killing the TPP was a good thing.

He had nothing to do with the markets- they just want a tax cut that is vapor ware like his wall, his repeal and replace and the rest. They are already getting restless.
Oh yeah, he did appoint that apparatchik to the stolen seat on the SCOTUS who OKed the execution of a man who did not get a fair trail- guilty or not.
Should he and the Congress give a huge tax cut, it will blow a massive hole in the deficit. Same for a $50 Billion increase in Defense. His proposed reform of the ACA would increase the deficit and deprive tens of millions of their health insurance.

Trump has no wins and apparently lied or was unaware he was misled about an Aircraft Carrier Strike Force. When he gassed off about them, they were out of range and headed away from Korea. That will show them not to mess with Agent Orange.

      1. “He had nothing to do with the markets- they just want a tax cut”

Wake up, dude. Confidence in a business President is off the charts! The hiring, company expansions, bringing jobs back from abroad, consumer confidence, dropping unemployment and overall optimism are all positive signs affecting the markets. You make it sound like greedy business is only using the man to pay less in taxes and couldn’t care less about his policies. You need to think this through and pay attention to economic indicators.

“Oh yeah, he did appoint that apparatchik to the stolen seat on the SCOTUS”

Apparatchik, are you serious or still smarting from the Democrat Party conspiring against Bernie and throwing him under the bus? Define “stolen” and please include Biden’s Senate comments years ago when the shoe was on the other foot.

“Should he and the Congress give a huge tax cut, it will blow a massive hole in the deficit. Same for a $50 Billion increase in Defense.”

So, is that OK with you? Reason I ask is because Obama DOUBLED DEBT in eight years more than every President before him COMBINED going back to George Washington. Let’s be real, free college would be paid for in advance and have no effect on the deficit? Selective outrage, duly noted.

“His proposed reform of the ACA would increase the deficit and deprive tens of millions of their health insurance.”

Premature assessment and negotiations continue. Question: Are the millions of Americans federally ordered to buy insurance that increases year after year over 100% or face IRS penalties, DEPRIVED?

        “Trump has no wins”

Hilarious! Your partisan views are getting the best of you. As F2T2 pointed out the list is long in a very short period of time. Astonishing really, for a rookie President that is totally new to politics. Confidence is high and President Trump is just getting started. He will accomplish positive CHANGE for everyone including those that did not vote for him. Unlike the party of empty Hollywood symbolism and talking point sound bites that only cares about their own (identity politics) to the exclusion of everyone else.

“and apparently lied or was unaware he was misled about an Aircraft Carrier Strike Force.”

Possibly a mixup in internal communications for a green team gaining their footing. Doubt it is an intentional lie. The end result and all that matters was a positive course correction.

“Agent Orange” is a favorite put down of serial critics. Knock yourself out. For the record, his hair is blonde. The physics of warm interior lighting cast an orange tint under certain conditions. Just ask any film director or professional photographer. At the end of the day I could not care less if his hair was purple or rainbow, as long as he gets the job done.

On the flip side of the personal put down coin — I did not read you having a problem with a whistle in his voice every sentence Obama spoke.

Constructive criticisms of our President is always a good thing. Petty put downs are useless …

    4. Not many real wins in your list at all, botvinnik. We will see how the TRUMPanzee’s record looks after a year, if he lasts that long. Meanwhile, it is only fair to warn you that your arrogance will lead to major failure and disappointment. I doubt that you have many friends who really have your back in a crisis. You are simply an unlikeable, self-centered, know-it-all with a highly flawed worldview.

      1. “Not many real wins in your list at all, botvinnik.”

Looks like you are responding to F2T2. Not many wins? I believe the list is easily 2X as long, actually more, as the last president at this point in time. Hey, is that you, PANzee Citizen X? 🐒

        “If Trump lasts a year?”

And just who is going to take down the people’s president? The biased media extension of the Democrat Party has been trying 24/7 since Election Day with nothing to show for it except a pox on their house.

“Meanwhile, it is only fair to warn you that your arrogance will lead to major failure and disappointment.”

Stating facts is not arrogance. Only in Hollywood do they not recognize everyday REALITY.

“I doubt that you have many friends who really have your back in a crisis. You are simply an unlikeable, self-centered, know-it-all with a highly flawed worldview.”

I doubt you understand, Botty. He is not running for class president, counting friends and courting others. He lays it out according to the rule of law and you can agree or disagree. Your lefty positions indeed conflict with his worldview. Leave it at that … 🐵🙈🙉🙊

    1. Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream
It is not dying, it is not dying
Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining
Yet you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being…
So play the game “Existence” to the end
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning.

        1. We all know that’s OK if you are a liberal. The biased media will not hound you out of existence.

But if you told a black woman she was hot and after no due process in court to defend yourself, heck, the most successful cable news show broadcaster for 20 years means nothing.

The mere allegation in the biased repetitive media COURT renders you guilty as charged. Animal Farm …

  4. “Trump, and the economy, need a win to keep momentum going in the right direction. They could get a win by fast tracking plans to give repatriated taxes of trillions of dollars directly to infrastructure projects rather than forcing corporations, most of whom are money grubbers of taxpayer money, that is currently parked overseas.”

  5. Another long bow to link this piece to Apple. Hmmm.

For what it’s worth I checked the archives and way, way back in the early part of the century democrats and republicans were slugging it out over vicariously related Apple stories.

The moral of the story is that governments come and governments go and MDN uses clickbait to keep it’s advertisers happy. And I just contributed to the process. Great!

  6. Trump is a chump. He will not get real tax reform. He’s too ignorant to know the facts of tax policy; and is a poor negotiator.

He will never be able to eliminate the tax loopholes; too many lobbyists, and he has shown he will sell out to the highest bidder. He has made the swamp even bigger, deeper.

He will in the end try to pass a tax cut with the largest rewards going to the super rich and one that would greatly expand our national debt.

But here’s the rub: it will be very hard to Trump to pass any tax reform without showing his taxes. The public needs to know how his own interests come into play in any tax plan.

And he cannot pass tax reform without Dem approval; he needs 60 votes in Senate.

      1. Trump is not underestimated; if anything he is turning out worse than expected.

Yes he shocked the world by winning the election, but it was very close, and his opponent was very weak. He also had the help of the Russians.

        1. Worse than expected? Would that be according to a Libtard measuring stick or just your opinion at Happy Hour on a Friday night.

Growing pains aside for the first time unprecedented politician — he is doing much better than I expected and admittedly some of his former critics.

The election was an electoral college landslide, not even close. Trump won many blue states not accomplished for a Republican since Ronald Reagan. Hello?

But I do agree with you the Democrat establishment backed the WORST and most CORRUPT billion dollar RECORD setting spending candidate in the history of U.S. presidential elections. What were they thinking?

Trump helped by Russians, yeah, how so? It has not been proven ONE Russian cast ONE ILLEGAL vote. Guess it all depends on what your definition of is … is.

Like I said, continue to underestimate the man. We shall see …

        2. Lowest approval rating in the history of this country. He hasn’t done anything except divide and put hate all over the world. He doesn’t have a clue about our constitution. The biggest embarrassment ever. Underestimate what? The democrats balanced the budget and lowered the deficit. No GOP president has ever done that. They want to repeal the healthcare with tax breaks for the rich and exclude 24 million Americans of healthcare. Raise costs to the point even more people would not be able to afford it and only the richest will. The democrats didn’t do that. This president lies through his teeth any chance he gets to try and make himself look good. Yet what he doesn’t know is everyone knows he’s lying and he looks like the biggest fool ever. His Russian ties will come back and haunt him sooner or later. Many are predicting he will be the next president to be impeached. Oh and his expensive golf trips every weekend which I might add he said he would never do during his campaign. Another Lie!! There are know growing pains here except lie after lie. And a bunch of racist pigs that scream and try and put down woman and minorities. His press secretary is another clown that can’t handle his job. Tries to exclude the press at briefings and puts his foot in his mouth just about everyday. Democrats backed what corrupt candidate? Oh you are talking about the one that the Russians helped our fake president win over. Has that corrupt democrat ever been convicted or even charged with anything? Oh look, no. You know why? Because it was yet another bunch of lies that a bunch of GOP senators couldn’t get one ounce of proof to legally back that up. And that general who said “lock her up”. Hmmm…. looks like he’s out of a job. Bunch of clowns in office right now and the whole world is laughing at us.

        3. I respectfully read your entire post.

When I read so much delusion and confusion of facts and reality, I have a decision to make.

Point by point rebuttal to set the record straight or accept we see it differently.

Have a nice day, and please get a clue.

“Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son.”

  7. Trump’s self-imposed cybersecurity deadline is up: What we got?
Quick clue: President Snowflake is a compulsive liar

On January 6, president-elect Donald Trump had a meeting with the heads of the intelligence services and came out with one action point: cybersecurity.

“Whether it is our government, organizations, associations or businesses we need to aggressively combat and stop cyberattacks,” an official statement read. “I will appoint a team to give me a plan within 90 days of taking office. The methods, tools and tactics we use to keep America safe should not be a public discussion that will benefit those who seek to do us harm.”

A week later, he named former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani as his cybersecurity tsar (despite a total lack of relevant experience). Two weeks later he became president of the United States; 90 days later is today. So where is the cybersecurity team and plan?

It’s hard to tell, but based on some shoe-leather reporting by Politico the answer seems to be: absolutely nowhere….

Oops there goes another Trump promise,
Oops there goes another Trump promise,
Oops there goes another Trump promise…
