‘Up Next’ is a new monthly Apple Music series highlighting new artists

“Apple Music has a new monthly feature series called Up Next,” Timothy J. Seppala reports for Engadget. “As the name suggests, it focuses on up-and-coming artists.”

“The first installment looks at Atlanta rapper 6LACK (pronounced ‘black’) with a mini-documentary, a spotlight on his latest album, a live performance and an interview with Beats 1 DJ Zane Lowe in addition to a few playlists,” Seppala reports.

“Like 9to5Mac noticed, the performance being named ‘Up Next Sessions’ suggests we might see more of the live videos,” Seppala reports.

  1. I subscribe to Apple Music because of the ecosystem.

AM sucks at creating custom stations.
I NEVER listen to AM’s Beats station.
The “curated” playlist are not bad.
I do subscribe to other people’s playlist and I wish Apple would encourage more people to publish their own playlist.

Spotify is superior at creating custom stations.

I gave up years ago keeping my own music in my iTunes library. It use to be easy to put my own custom recordings in iTunes and sync with my devices. I have given up on that now too.

The UI in AM on the iPhone has become more difficult the last time around too. Little things that made life easier were removed or moved. Why can’t I “star” a song on the lock screen anymore? That was a silly change. Why can’t I see the time real big on the lock screen while listening to a song anymore? Another silly change.
