Apple Park: Cool facts about Apple’s spaceship campus

“What ‘Apple Park’ lacks in branding pizazz, it makes up for in architectural oomph,” Evan Dashevsky reports for PC Magazine. “The campus was a passion project conceived by Steve Jobs during his final years and is truly a work of high-end structural engineering.”

Here are some of the coolest facts about the new complex:

• Once the dust settles, the total cost of the campus is expected to be about $5 billion.
• Once fully operational, the campus will house up to 12,000 employees.
• The Park’s inner courtyard will be home to a 30-acre green space complete with mini fruit orchards including apricot, olive, and apple trees… [and] will also host an herb garden and pond.
• Parking is built both underground and in two large parking structures accommodating approximately 14,200 employees.
• The campus’s ring-shaped main building will cover 2.8 million square feet. That’s about 49 standard football fields.

    1. We see posts like yours all of the time. It is like Eeyore has taken over the MDN forums. Believe what you want for whatever reasons you want. Don’t expect the rest of us to buy into your doom-and-gloom. When human nature is involved, a contrarian approach often works fairly well because things are seldom as bad, or as good, as people tend to believe. So, given the massive flood of negativity on this forum, I can only assume that Apple is about to announce anti-gravity and warp drive!

Life goes in cycles. Conventional wisdom is often lacking in wisdom. Growth has finite limits. Innovation does not subscribe to a schedule. And lighting sometimes does strike twice in the same location.

What about the friggin BBQ’s? LOL

  2. Don’t underestimate Apple. Right now they’re working on a MacPro that will change the industry.

To be released when they have the proper announcement venue……

    They always underpromise and over-deliver.

  3. Most of the time when a corporation builds a humongous architectural effity to honor itself, that structure signifies the beginning of the corporation’s decline.
