Apple secures permit to test autonomous vehicles

“Apple Inc. on Friday secured a permit for autonomous-vehicle testing in California,” Tripp Mickle and Tim Higgins report for The Wall Street Journal.

“The permit, awarded by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles, allows Apple to test self-driving cars on public roads in the largest U.S. state,” Mickle and Higgins report.

“An Apple spokesman declined to comment on the permit and referred to a December statement that said the company is investing machine learning and autonomous systems,” Mickle and Higgins report.

        1. That might balance out some of the past decade of anger and hatred expressed by the right and alt-right on this forum, huh?

Seriously, you guys have to get over yourselves. You pretend like the Bush Administration never existed, you bellyached incessantly for the past eight years about Obama (including crazy conspiracy theories and calls for impeachment). Now you think that you have the country by its balls with Trump in office. You will eventually discover that Trump represents a pyrrhic victory for the GOP, which is already fracturing from the illogic and inconsistency of the Trump Administration and the internal stresses between the more moderate conservative elements and the alt-right. No one on the right is going to come out of this looking good. You own the problems now, much in the same way that you blamed absolutely everything on Obama, and it is rather humorous to watch the flailing in the White House and Congress.

I am an independent hoping that this sad situation will help to fracture the poisonous two-party system that has dominated U.S. politics for far too long. Both of the political parties are to blame for the current state of affairs, although the GOP deserves the majority of the blame, imo.

        2. Citizens to report illegal aliens, please call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at 1-866-DHS-2ICE (347-2423). They will need to know names, locations (either work place or residence) and any other specific information you can provide. Visit http://www.ice.gov for more information.

        3. Wealthy people need to look no farther than their own maids, landscapers, and the construction workers building their gazebos, pool decks…and perimeter walls. After all, the best way to cut costs and increase wealth is to pay laborers as little as possible and offer no benefits of any type.

The stink of the hypocrisy associated with the recent efforts to purge the U.S. of undocumented immigrants is overwhelming. People are quickly going to discover that many of the jobs performed by these people are critical to the daily activities of this country, and that those workers are not easy to replace. I am one of the few people in my neighborhood who mows his own lawn. No, you cannot borrow my lawnmower or string trimmer.
