I just use EyeTV. Works like a charm and has a great interface.
Didn’t elgato sell off this product to a German company and the support for TV programming via TV Guide is now not supported? Of course recording still works.
Yes, Elgato sold it but both EyeTV and the EPG function are still well supported by the new company.
Note that the Channels app is coming out with its own DVR—no need for Plex or the “Extend” model of HDHomeRun.
Do you have any information on where the Channels app will save recordings to? I currently use it for live TV, and Plex DVR, which works pretty well, but it would be interesting to see what Channels comes up with for the DVR.
It saves it to either your computer or an NAS, check out the
Channels community for more info, its still in beta but anyone can jump in.
The channels app is dependent on the HDHomerun, as a matter of fact it only works with the Silicondust HD tuners, the
the channels DVR is $8/month, plex pass $39.00 annual or $119 life time…..

It is easy and it works!
I use a Tablo tuner box with a connected USB hard drive. It costs $5 a month for access to their TV guide so you can program channels to record using either your iOS device, or the Apple TV app. The iPhone and iPad apps provide more functionality than the Apple TV app.
