Apple to unveil new iPad Pro lineup, 128GB iPhone SE, and Red iPhone 7/Plus next month

“Apple will host a March event to introduce a new iPad Pro lineup and other products, according to Japanese website Mac Otakara,” Joe Rossignol reports for Mac Rumors.

“In terms of the iPad Pro lineup, the report claims Apple will announce new 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch models,” Rossignol reports. “Today’s report also claims Apple may add a 128GB storage option for the iPhone SE, alongside the smartphone’s existing 16GB and 64GB capacities, and add a new red color —(PRODUCT)RED? — option for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.”

Rossignol reports, “The report also calls for new Apple Watch bands at the event in line with last year’s Spring refresh.”

  1. I hope the new iPhone color will be Jet or Farari Red.

I think that high gloss look will be absolutely stunning and then I will be jelous all over again.

    Loving my Jet Black 7+

      1. “…the report claims Apple will announce new 7.9-inch, 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch models…” Does this lineup make sense? No.

Does anyone remember the differences between the Performa 6400 and the Performa 6450?

Does ANYONE need any more evidence that Tim Cook and company is moving down the Sculley path?

        1. Oh dear. You ARE making sense.

For newbies: It was the proliferation of various Performa Macs that nobody wanted (thank the Apple marketing division) that caused the 1996 Apple deficit of $1 Billion, which heralded ‘The Dark Age’ of Apple.

If Apple is again stuck in Marketing-As-Management mode, this pile of iPads won’t sell and Apple will end up eating them.

  2. New (PRODUCT)RED iPhones would be excellent!

But limiting iOS devices of any kind to 128GB is ridiculous. It’s 256GB or bust for ALL iOS devices.

Catch up Apple! And please don’t over-charge for the added drive space. Thank you.

  3. If my current Zagg and ClamCase keyboards are compatible with the new 10.5″ iPad Pro I will definitely upgrade my 9.7″ It sounds like the form factor will be the same as the 9.7″ so I’m optimistic. I can dig the quicker processor and more screen real estate. We’ll see!

  4. I am so looking forward to the usual seasonal product introductions from Apple, just as I do from the fashion clothing lines I follow, like Burberry…emerging outfits like Sies Marjan et al. also look promising. Anticipation is sweet.

Design Space is where innovation happens. Just ask Darwin. Not every year is electric. And some adaptations at first seem “meh” but may stick to the soul, or prove to be sensory delights, and become classic like the little black dress, the bolero, or the opposable thumb.

Change is good, but sometimes Unchange is even better. Call me a realist, but I refuse to be disappointed by what I can’t control. There’s always next season…

  5. 9.7 and 10.5… that sounds odd… why have two models so close in size?

And i could not agree more with dome of the comments above…where the hell are the Macs and Mac Pro updates?

    1. I’m thinking the 9.7 is an iPad Pro1, maybe with different storage options or something to make it “new”, and meant to replace the Air2 as the “entry” model. Then 10.5″ model would be iPad Pro 2 based on A10 and I suspect a thinner bezel so the body & weight are same as current 9.7, but screen itself is bigger. And hopefully 4GB RAM !

  6. Can’t wait for the new 12″ iPad Pro!

Cash is in th bank waiting, will be my main device for conceptualising work (am a conceptual designer).

I’ve been holding out for this new version and has been hard waiting as I could have just gone into an Apple Store and get the current version.

Will buy the most expensive model with the largest capacity.

    1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember Steve Jobs letting products flounder like Tim has done with the Mac line. Steve either pushed it or killed it from what I remember.

  7. Ugh, I was waiting it out for the next version of the 12.9 inch model, but if the new 10.5 inch model is the one with all the new bells and whistles I might have to get that instead. Seems like the 12.9 inch version is an afterthought to Apple now…thought it would be the flagship iPad.
