President Trump eyes an H-1B visa aimed at ‘best and brightest’

“President Donald Trump is considering a new way of distributing the H-1B visa to ensure they go to the ‘best and brightest,'” Patrick Thibodeau reports for Computerworld.

“The phrase ‘best and the brightest’ has long been used by tech industry groups to champion the H-1B program. It’s greeted with derision by critics, who say the program’s mostly entry-level workers are used to displace U.S. workers,” Thibodeau reports. “But some critics of the visa, a group that now includes top officials in the Trump administration, are adopting the phrase to advance the idea of a priority-based H-1B distribution system.”

“This comes from a draft executive order by Andrew Bremberg, the director of Trump’s Domestic Policy Council. The order — if signed by the president — opens the door to major reforms of the H-1B and the Optional Practical Training programs,” Thibodeau reports. “What is unclear is whether Bremberg’s draft executive order represents a rough draft still in the works or a final order awaiting the president’s signature.”

“One question still not answered is whether the Trump administration is seeking changes that will affect the upcoming April 1 lottery,” Thibodeau reports. “As it stands, Fiscal Year 2018 H-1B visas will be distributed by random lottery, not by any priority or merit-based system.”

Vox reports, “A sweeping proposed order would, essentially, operate across a number of channels to reduce the scope of legal immigration to the United States. It also begins to lay the administrative and policy groundwork for further legislation altering the scope of legal immigration into one that, in the words of the cover memo, ‘prioritizes the interests of American workers and — to the maximum degree possible — the jobs, wages, and well-being of those workers.'”

“The order itself contains a variety of provisions,” Vox eports. “One would reverse Obama’s extension of the duration of Optional Practical Training work visas and decision to allow the spouses of H-1B guest workers to also have work permits. Another would undo relief Obama has granted to people eligible for green cards but unable to apply for them due to what’s known as the ‘three- and ten-year bars.'”

Vox reports, “The H-1B program, which is often used by outsourcing firms, has come under recent criticism from both Trumpist Republicans and pro-labor Democrats, and the Trump administration is reportedly looking at another way to determine which of the hundreds of thousands of H-1B applicants get visas (instead of the current lottery system).”

MacDailyNews Take: H-1B visas are a top issue for Silicon Valley and likely a significant reason why Silicon Valley overwhelmingly backed President Trump’s opponent during the election campaign.

      1. Stop the senseless name calling…

60% of the entrepreneurs in the US are foreign born, and all innovation is in the tech industry.

Sure you want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg?

        1. Good People with Great Ideas come from all over the world.
What is unique about the Silicon Valley is the business environment that seeds these ideas, and supports these innovations, for the development of new business.

        2. Good Question. I am a physician in Silicon Valley. Many of my patients are Venture Capitalists, and Investment Bankers in the Tech sector. This was a personal communication from one of my patients who is quite an authority on the matter. Take it as you will. There are great fears in the Tech sector that careless HB-1 Visa will kill the tech industry. Hence top level discussions with Trump.

        3. Quite Naive… The purpose of the H1-B visas is to provide an optimal environment for the best minds to flourish. Silicon Valley is a meritocracy. There is no room for mindless ideology.

        4. Bogus…YOU are naive.

Tech industry’s persistent claim of worker shortage may be phony

“Yet many studies suggest that the STEM shortage is a myth. In computer science and engineering, says Hal Salzman, an expert on technology education at Rutgers, “the supply of graduates is substantially larger than the demand for them in industry.” Qualcomm is not the only high-tech company to be aggressively downsizing. The computer industry, led by Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft, cut nearly 60,000 jobs last year, according to the outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. The electronics industry pared an additional 20,000 positions.

Nevertheless, high-tech employers such as Qualcomm, Google, Microsoft and Facebook lobby hard for more latitude in employing workers on H-1B visas. These are designed to serve high-skilled immigrants but often enable the importing of Indian and Chinese guest workers to replace an older, more experienced, but more expensive domestic workforce. Visa issuance is capped at 85,000 per year, including foreign holders of U.S. advanced degrees, but a bill sponsored by Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) would raise the limit to as many as 195,000.”

        5. If you had any experience in technical recruiting, you would realize that there is a drastic shortage of qualified developers in the US. College graduates are nearly useless unless they have spent a large amount of time interning during their education.

But if you’re talking network/help desk support, that pool is slightly better to find engineers, and also the area targeted by H1-B1 visas as that work is much lower skill.

        6. Reuters also thinks college grads are plenty good enough to fill positions. In fact, they are enourmous training and mentoring nightmares that leave as soon as they can anyway. So, sorry, you’re both wrong

    1. Yes, keep going completely overboard. The more Trump supporters you fools generate from your insane Trump Derangement Syndrome rants, the better it is for America and real Americans.

When your biggest move since losing everything in the 2016 elections is an unhinged Rally for Baby Murder, you know your ideology has intractable problems.

      1. Real Americans? Baby murder???

Four in five Americans believe in the right of a woman to choose what she does with her body. Most believe that abortion should be legal and one third believes it should be legal under ANY and ALL circumstances. Fewer than one in five think it should be completely illegal, no matter what. The America and “real Americans” that you are talking about clearly isn’t representative of the whole of America.

Let us also not forget: more of your fellow Americans voted for Clinton than for Trump.

Look, Trump may well turn out to be a productive president. With both houses nominally supporting him, he may well produce the results he promised. And it is quite possible (even likely) that many of those results will please most Americans. But make no mistake, there are several issues where the conservative platform is squarely at odds with the majority of America (women’s rights, choice, LGBT, immigration, gun control). If Trump, supported by the conservative house and senate, forges ahead and starts making changes that Americans don’t like, voters might swiftly change their mind next time.

        1. Pre: history tells us emphatically that “majority” and “consensus” isn’t synonymous with true, correct, right. The earth was once flat, you know. Also, in another land and another time, the “love” shared btwn young boys and men was culturally embraced.

        2. No doubt. Those were times when women weren’t allowed to vote, drive, go to school, or make choices about their own bodies. As the human society has progressed, so have those wrongs been righted. There are quite a few countries around the world that are ahead of the US when it comes to the civil and human rights. When it comes to rights of women, the US has recently been slowly moving away from the civilized, developed world, and in the direction of Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan…

        3. Instead of seeing the point, you drove off the cliff with points that don’t augment your view at all, but actually prove again that majority, consensus and solidarity don’t mean sh….

        4. Exactly! It is about what is right. And that’s precisely what I had elaborated: humanity has progressed since times when it was illegal for blacks (or women) to vote, since the times when you could legally beat up your wife without consequence, when a women was not allowed to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. As the human civilization developed, so did the concept of human rights. And different parts of human civilization, in different corners of the world, are at different points along that path of progress on human rights. And they have nothing to do with solidarity, consensus or majority (in Saudi Arabia, majority of population, many of them even women, still believe that women should not be allowed to drive, because they are mentally inferior to men).

All I’m saying is that the US has been slowly moving in reverse, when it comes to the human rights of women.

        5. I don’t think anyone will ever have an even remotely accurate answer, as that is a piece of information that is private. What I’m absolutely convinced is that the number doesn’t vary much across party lines. There is also a fair amount of hypocrisy on the side of anti-abortion lawmakers, with several of them privately coercing their wives / mistresses into having one (legally).

One of the most fundamental human rights is the right of a person (man or woman) to make decisions about their own body.

        6. The rights of a woman to make decisions about her body cease at conception, it ceases to be just her body. The benchmark of all civilization is to defend those who cannot defend themselves, it is the essence of the individual rights in our constitutional republic.

          The right to life.

        7. In your opinion. In my opinion, the fetus is not even remotely a person until it can survive outside the womb. Until then it is a parasite that can kill the mother. And I believe the mother has the right to live over a fetus that may not even make it to term.

And what about rape/incest that leaves the victim pregnant? Sorry lady, but you have to have this unwanted child you know, because all life is sacred except for muslims, blacks, and anyone near a drone target.

If you are prolife, then you shouldn’t be against abortion. If abortion was made illegal tomorrow, women will continue to have abortions regardless, just like they did in the past. But instead of a qualified doctor and a sterile operating room, they go to alleyways with unqualified whoever. And then mothers die from bad procedures. If you’re truly pro life, you would give a shit about the mother too, regardless of how you feel about her choices.

        8. Actually no, I haven’t killed any babies, or even fetuses for that matter. And since I’m not a woman, nor her doctor, I feel that I have ZERO say in the matter. Because I don’t believe fetus are people, and because I can’t get pregnant.

But if I could get pregnant, at any point of my life going back to 16, would I have ever seriously considered an abortion? No, I really don’t think I could do that.

But if I did want to dictate no abortions whatsoever to anyone, even though it doesn’t even remotely affect me either way, that would make me a fascist. Just like telling gay people they can’t get married. Why the farq do you care so badly? Don’t have an abortion, it’s your right not to!

But that’s right. You care so much about the babies! Really? Then why don’t you care about sending them to ridiculous wars and having them killed as soon as they reach maturity?

Why don’t you care enough to feed the millions of malnourished AMERICAN children of our country?

Why don’t you care about providing health insurance to millions of people instead of letting them go bankrupt when a tragedy occurs?

Why is it ok with denying healthcare to college graduataes covered by parents, and who still live at home because they can’t find jobs?

Why is it ok to not provide healthcare to a desperately sick person because of a pre existing condition?

Oh yes, the Republican Party is the party that CARES so much about YOU! Well, at least while you are a few cell parasite living inside a woman. ( because lets be honest, you’re a man and you just know better than a stupid, weak, woman)

As soon as you come out, you had better be healthy, wealthy, white and male because the CARE sure as sh1t stops there if you are not.

By the way, I’m a wealthy, white, male American, and even I can see this hypocritical bullshit. Open your lazy, narrow view mind. Give a shit. Just try.

        9. Leftist: you need to lose your “person” definition based on survival outside of the womb. Carry your thinking to a really simple conclusion and we’d all be dead in a generation. If not for parents/fosters, no child would survive outside of the womb for years after birth. All of the other points you put forth are jargon and flack to the real issue, so just stick to the essence. You believe in choice and it involves taking the 1st stages of the life…that you, me, us were when helpless…unable to survive outside of the womb.

        10. That’s a laugh riot. Any baby in AMERICA carried to full term, but is unwanted, is damn nearly immediately adopted. Doesn’t matter about race or gender, a baby is precious and is cared for by society. Just the way it should be. Hell, we even import babies like crazy.

If we get to the technological point where we can take an unwanted zygote from a mother, cheaply and safely, shove it in an artificial womb for 9 months, and then some lucky person/couple gets to take the baby home, then fine, I concede, Make abortion illegal.

But you picking conception over me picking 4.5 months is drawing a line of life in the sand. And a much more conservative person, strictly following the lords word, would believe that every spilled sperm is a sin. So how about that? Let’s push it to the “moral extreme” as that is the high horse your are on. Do you mastebate? Use contraceptives? How would you like if Trump outlawed them? What if jerkin off became a 10 year prison term? That’s the direction you’re taking this argument.

And I see you have no stance against taking rights from people. I just always think it’s extremely odd in today’s world that Christian and Rebublican somehow all go hand in hand now, when at their essence, are a direct dichotomy.

        11. As I recall, in the case of the murder of a pregnant Sharon Tate, the Mansonians were charged with two counts. The law recognizes that to murder a pregnant woman and her fetus is a double homicide.

In Leftist’s hometown of Libtardia, Dumbfuckistan, murdering a fetus within a living pregnant woman is “her right to choose.”

        12. Leftist: I don’t believe we’ve met, nor spoken before, so I assume your comments about religion, politics, seed spilled, following the Lord’s word, etc, must have been part of a conversation you were having with someone else, or you were just supposing I meant to include those topics?
What I did write was based on your statement: “In my opinion, the fetus is not even remotely a person until it can survive outside the womb..” Response: The fetus in the womb survives as well as a child born (out of the womb)…which, in both cases, is not very long w/o assistance. From your words, one can deduce that a human isn’t a human until age 5, 6, 7 (amazingly resourceful kid). At no time do expectant parents celebrate for their coming seahorse. They/we all are completely confident they will be care-taking for a young human. It sounds like the “line drawn in the sand” is an arbitrary intellectual determination to aid your view…to give comfort, even though, what I would define as logic/rationality, is missing. Again, it’s “simply” a choice for either side, but it’s the being’s determination that’s vastly different. Reminder: conversation isn’t “jerkin off, sin, Trump, contraception….”

        13. Still not addressing the core issue, are you? You are fine with taking away human rights left and right as long as they agree with your morals.

Why are you so interested in legislating every aspect of our social life? I though republicans stood for small government, stay out of my business and privacy? Why can’t abortion be a decision made by the woman and her doctor? How could a politician possibly have better insight than them? I guess that part still holds true sometimes. Unless someone is doing something that has zero impact on you, but you don’t agree with, the. It’s ok to come in and control them.

Yet, for the most part, you couldn’t give two shits about a poor urban child, as he’ll end up a criminal anyway. Why bother figuring out a way to get him educated, make him prductive? You do have those prison quotas to fill, big business must have its way. And besides, that kid was forecasted to be a criminal at birth.

You don’t care about poor, single monthers who need food. Cut those food stamps, she’s probably trading them for drugs anyway!

And what about americas military complex that needs continuous wars in the name of big business and the economy. To hell with the soldiers who die, are traumatized, or are injured and then get the worst healthcare in the country for it. VA hospitals ftw!

I truly believe that you DO NOT CARE ABOUT LIFE. Especially when it is counter to big businesss. So your hypocritical rant to save fetuses is simply a thinly veiled belief that you know better than a woman and her doctor, so you have the right to control them.

But all that is fine. Trump may do terrible, he may even do “ok”. Who knows. What I’d do know is that he’s a mediocre business man, a compulsive liar, completely delusional in the face of every fact, AND a serial sexual assaulter (as stated in his own fvcking words, and verified by dozens of brave women). He’s gone through 3 supermodel trophy wives, and my guess is soon to be 4.

Yes, he is most certainly the moral authority of the land. We should all be just like him. Excuse me, I gotta grab dudes cocks against their will, wherever and whener I want, because trump. I hope I run into you. Will give you a nice big squeeze. And if you resist, I’m going to beat the shit out of you and rape you. Becaus trump. Yeah.

Also, can’t wait till your daughter grows up a bit. Going to grab her pussy so hard, and is she resists, going have to press her against a wall and fondle her till she cries. Oh yeah, these new freedoms are GREaT! Pakistan fully approves.

        14. And ripabo, my definition of human vs your definition of human are different. How can that be? Because the definition of what constitutes a human is an opinion.

And society cannot carry a zygote to full term without enslaving the host mother against her will. Society can most certainly and does take care of any and all unwanted babies.

So my point is, wherever society can step in to save the child, without taking away the mothers rights, those are the situations, in my opinion, where an abortion should be avoided. When I said survive outside the womb, I was most certainly implying surviving without the mother.

And like I said before. If we can pull a zygote from a mother safely and cheaply, put it in an artificial womb, then I would be much more open to bannng abortion. But that doesn’t exist today.

And why does the care stop from you once the baby leaves the womb? Wouldn’t feeding malnourished children be an easier, and much more productive way to care and help fellow humans out? Do you care whatsoever about crack head mothers and unwanted children? I do.

    2. As I’ve explained ad infinitum before:

For Silicon Valley and Apple’s Tim Cook, it’s all about H-1B visas and cheap labor.

American companies and their shareholders, in general, want skilled labor as CHEAPLY as possible. That’s a main reason why Tim Cook, Apple and other tech firms backed the loser Clinton – they wanted unlimited H-1Bs to continue, so they can pay Ajeet from India half what they’d have to pay Tom from Tulsa who can’t find a job after graduating from college and has to live in his parents basement because Apple got Ajeet from India to do it on the CHEAP.

H1-B visas for skilled workers DO NOT EQUAL uneducated illegal aliens streaming across the southern border intent on cashing in on American taxpayer’s largesse while setting up shop in the domestic drug trade and/or other crimes (gangs, rape, robbery, etc.).

Trump is for upholding the laws already on the books designed to protect our borders and our nation’s sovereignty.

      The Trump campaign’s policy:

Increase prevailing wage for H-1Bs. We graduate two times more Americans with STEM degrees each year than find STEM jobs, yet as much as two-thirds of entry-level hiring for IT jobs is accomplished through the H-1B program. More than half of H-1B visas are issued for the program’s lowest allowable wage level, and more than eighty percent for its bottom two. Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry-level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the U.S., instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas. This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program. Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities.

Requirement to hire American workers first. Too many visas, like the H-1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.

End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.

Jobs program for inner city youth. The J-1 visa jobs program for foreign youth will be terminated and replaced with a resume bank for inner city youth provided to all corporate subscribers to the J-1 visa program.

Refugee program for American children. Increase standards for the admission of refugees and asylum-seekers to crack down on abuses. Use the monies saved on expensive refugee programs to help place American children without parents in safer homes and communities, and to improve community safety in high crime neighborhoods in the United States.

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women’s plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

    1. Try for once to think past your ideology. An import tax on goods from Mexico will be passed on to the American consumer, and ultimately paid by Americans. Oil is one of Mexico’s largest exports to the US, and Mexico is the second largest exporter of agricultural products to the US. Import taxes will only increase the price of staple items such as gas and food for Americans, who in the end will be paying for the wall. Not smart.

        1. Some of the things Trump is doing I’m very much in favor of. But the whole “tax remittances to pay for the wall” thing is a boneheaded move. Brian is right. We will ultimately pay for the wall one way or another. Mexico simply doesn’t have the money.

Mexico is confronted with several serious problems, which is why so many want to leave. Systemic corruption at all levels of government, a breakdown of basic law and order in several border states driven by cartel violence, and depressingly deep poverty.

These problems are largely ones of Mexico’s making. But the US has exacerbated them. The bipolar war on drugs coupled with the unrelenting desire to consume illegal drugs pits competing forces in Mexico against each other. US weapons exports and drug money fuels much of Mexico’s corruption and violence.

I’m all for securing our borders via a wall or by other means. But a wall by itself won’t be enough. We need to stop making things worse. Instead of sewing animosity and bad blood while trying to punish the Mexican people, why don’t we behave like good neighbors and give them a helping hand? It really is in our own self interest.

    2. How likely is it that a Mexican strawberry producer will lower the prices of US-bound strawberries in order to compensate for the new 20% tariff? I simply can’t see this happening.

Vast majority of that 20% tariff will end up being paid by the American consumer. Hardly anyone will notice that an avocado, which used to cost $1 now costs $1.20.

The thing is, the 20% tariff on Mexican stuff is a pretty smart political move. While there is no doubt that the mainstream press will immediately point out that this will be borne by the American taxpayers, Trump’s PR machine will simply hammer home that this is Mexico paying for the wall. Supporters will cheer and that will be that.

    1. If you keep informed of the IT staff at many leading companies that have been decimated by the H-1B visas, you would understand this is a huge computer/tech story, including Apple and all the other silicon valley companies.

  1. The progressive who favor a national open door policy also lock their doors, select with care whom they share their time (that is, exclude from their lives), and demand more and better police protection. In other words, they live their personal lives in direct contradiction to their political goals. This us hypocrisy or mental derangement.

      1. The thing is, most people don’t seem to realize that walls/fences have a two-fold purpose.

They not only keep things out… they keep things in.

        Remember Berlin had a wall.

  2. I have to say that bringing in people to fill high end positions does not bode well for the American workforce. Would it not make sense to provide training for those inside the country instead?

    1. It would make sense if that country had the best and brightest to begin with but obviously that’s not the case. Even offering visas for the best and the brightest won’t attract the best and the brightest who have a sense of ethics and morality, those people will go elsewhere for their visas.

        1. You don’t know if Apple was founded in Perth?
You want me to list the “best and brightest” from down under like I was what a lap dog?

Do you own work and research botvinnik, the best and the brightest are able to do that, oh wait you are proving my point.

          Thanks.

        2. Once again, redundantly, do you own work and research botvinnik, the best and the brightest are able to do that. You obviously are incapable of doing that.

Thanks for proving my point, again.

        3. To you perhaps, but to the best and brightest the point has been made long ago.

I’ll give you one of the best and brightest from down under though cause I feel so sorry for you. He got a special visa to study and experience first hand your government’s current state of affairs. Goes by the name of David Hicks.

Your turn now “Once again: Please list the “best and the brightest” from the free and civilized world.

That does not include your country of course, nor does it include down under.

        4. Yes, a weekend might do it. Of course, it would take you what, 2-8 years to make such a list?

Of course I won’t look in the mirror, I’m not from down under as you very well know. I’m from the free and civilized world. It’s on the map.

        5. Look Roadkill, I’m sorry some American boy tweaked you in the nose when you were a kid. I’m sure it was traumatic. But you’ve really got to grow up and get over it. If meds don’t work I suggest electro-shock therapy. It worked for Kitty Dukakis…

        6. Feeling quite speculative JWSC and with your “aim for Bin Laden hit Saddam Hussein” guidance system you are still off the mark.

Look, I’m sorry someone brought down your whole house of cards by taking a couple of your buildings down with your own airplanes, I’m sure it was quite traumatic. You may not have the capacity of growing up, seems you are still ready to wallow with torture and invading others on your imaginary WMD whims. I’d suggest fixing your your ethical and moral compass but it looks like you’ve flushed that down the toilet long ago.

Now that we’ve dispensed with the pleasantries, let me address the issues you’ve brought up regarding the topic at hand. Oh wait, you haven’t your whole post is just a feeble attempt at insults. Typical of those from your nation, you are a true patriot.

        7. botvinnik thought you were Australian but you are not and in fact actually dislike Australians. He is a presumptuous sort, that man. He jumps to conclusions, lands in a pile, then blames the referees. In that, he is not unlike most men I have had the misfortune to be acquainted with. I would wish for a higher standard, but God condemns me to bite my lip. I hope He isn’t reading this.

    2. The people are trained, but the American workers do not want to work for the salaries being offered, thus the tech companies can say they can’t find workers and need to hire immigrants.

My main problem with the administration’s and the republican congress’ position on this is the hypocrisy, as the biggest reason companies have had for lowering wage costs is to make wall street happy, and we now have 6 senior administration people who were top Goldman Sachs alumni. So when they worked for Goldman it was fine to punish companies for not maximizing “shareholder value”, and now they want to punish those same companies for doing exactly what their shareholder masters at GS were telling them to do.

The fact that Trump supporters are twisting themselves in knots to make excuses for these a-hole is what is really annoying.

  3. Regarding corporate abuse of H-1B visas, the corporation that imports workers is taking jobs, not creating them. It’s up to the corporation to train its workers rather than replacing them with scabs. Any corporation that denies Americans should simply move to India or Pakistan where it can also be denied the huge benefits to freeload in the US without giving anything meaningful back to workers and society except gadgets that add little meaning to life.

  4. The H1-B visa is now restricted to ‘white’ people of native English speaking people of European ancestry. Are Jews allowed though? The master race is about to be purified by the Aryan Nation through Trump and his ilk. Next: start on deportation, concentration camps and executions.

Where is the NRA and their supposed army of civilians to protect us against the government being taken over by a dictator? Oh, right. They are just a bunch of gun nuts and are going to volunteer to be the new Brown Shirts.

    1. More “fake news”, you should work for CiaNN sucking Wolf Blitzer’s dick…

“Indians got 86% of the H1B visas for tech firms issued by the US in 2014”

(The data accessed by Computerworld through Right of Information Act, reveals that a lion share of visas issued for computer jobs are claimed by Indians.)

  5. People who compare Trump to Hitler are either ignorant of history or just plain stupid. Let’s see here…a socialist dictator who exterminated over 6 million people or a pragmatist who’s opinions you don’t agree with.

Can we at least wait longer than a week to judge what he does for the American people?

      1. Unlike deporting legal residents in order to purify the ‘so-called’ aryen race and vilify jews creating an enemy to unify the country, keeping illegals out to protect one’s sovereignty as a nation isn’t the same. It’s an intelligent move. Immigrants are welcome…just go through the proper channels.

  6. Distribution by lottery does not seem appropriate for this particular visa program. If that’s what this change is about then I’m all for it. I like what Canada has been doing with means and skills requirements. The H-1B program has merit and can be invaluable to companies who need to hire the best, wherever they hail from. But entry level hires seem questionable at best.

  7. What we are seeing is a large group of Democrats wetting their pants and realizing they need to throw the biggest temper tantrum in the world or else all their dreams and hard work of the last 8 years will go up in smoke.

Sorry but Obama almost doubled the national Debt. It took ALL previous presidents to get to $10 Trillion. Obama by himself added another $9 Trillion. Things need to change drastically. Get used to it.
