        1. Something looked wrong with that slide, so I did some googling. Here are some other numers:

          1. 78 straight months of economic growth. The longest period of consecutive monthly growth in US history.

          2. 68 straight months of private sector job creation. Longest period in history;

          3. Unemployment went from 10.1% to 4.9%. In his campaign, Romney promised bringing it down to 6% by 2016…

          4. Continues record-breaking growth of the stock market throughout the 8 years;

          5. Federal budget deficit reduced by two-thirds (from $1.4T to about $440B)

          6. Lowest increase of government spending since Eisenhower (and his Interstate Highway system) — barely over 3% per year;

          7. Income taxes are as low, or lower than at any point during last 50 years for 95% of the population;

          8. 20 million more Americans have health insurance;

          9. Since Obamacare, the increase in healthcare cost has been slowest since 1960;

          10. More illegal immigrants caught and deported than under any prior president;

          11. The number of new jobs created in last 8 years is three times greater than during prior 8 years.

        2. I didn’t make this stuff up. It was a few minutes of googling. All I’m saying, anyone can do googling. Sources are out there. Reliable ones, verifiable and fact-checkable. Help yourself!

        3. BOGUS NUMBERS, FIRSTY!!!! Economic statistics for 2016 haven’t even been released yet. Whatever date data you assembled here is misleading at best. As usual.

          What you and botty refuse to understand is that the national credit card doesn’t come with a 30 day payment period. The fed issues bonds for 10 years and more. The debt that Obama had to service came from 30 years of almost constant deficit spending by both parties. Obama entered office facing the worst recession in 2 generations and saw America mired in Bush’s wars at a cost of hundreds of millions per day.

          I’d say Obama turned the Bush recession around as well as any human could. The trend of Obama’s growth will continue for perhaps 3 years or more unless Trump royally screws it up.

          your cherry picked data presents numbers that don’t even measure economic health either. Household income as reported in 2008 was inflated by bogus housing loans that people couldn’t afford. Looked great on paper though, and the supposedly fiscally responsible repubs let Bush ignore the reality. Laissez faire lack of domestic oversight and unchecked military spending was accepted because, according to people like you, we were doing well. When the house of cards came crashing down , Obama had to turn around 7 years of fiscal insanity in no time. Well, he did it just as his Goldman Sachs (same as Trump, by the way) advisors recommend: deficit funded stimulus. recovery of household income and ownership stats OBVIOUSLY lag the mortgage mess cleanup. So if you look at median income since 2011, Obama’s stimulus worked. Longest streak of growth in recorded American history.

          And since this is an Apple forum, why don’t you ask Cook if Obama aided or hurt the business. Seems to me corporations have been packing away record incomes in their overseas tax shelters. Is that Obamas fault too?

        4. You can blame Bush all you want for the sub-prime mortgage crisis just because it came to a head on his watch. That is called guilt by association.

          Look up when the lending laws were changed, who sponsored the bill and what president was in office when it started.

          Then we’ll talk facts.

  1. Pretty amazing country we have… where power transitions from one party to another. God bless Trump and help him in making America Great Again. It will only benefit us all.

    1. Sadly, not going to happen. Half of the country’s population thinks that today marks the end of America and everything great it stood for for the past eight years. To the other half, eight years of national nightmare is over and the country has been saved. There is no reconciling these two sides.

      There are no indications that President Trump intends to shift his tone (and attitude) towards reconciliation; after all, he made some election promises, and he may well want to keep at least some of them. As long as that is the case, the other half of the country will simply try to do what the Republicans were doing for the past eight years: put obstacles in President’s path at every chance they get.

      In American bi-polar democracy, the chances of political progress are extremely slim. Until Americans re-learn to listen to the other side, future progress will be elusive, and the paralysing political gridlock will persist.

      Sad…

        1. Very often, Americans like to claim, and take pride in, the fact that they have the greatest democracy in the world. On every level, from the lowest level of elected office, to the highest office in the land, they revel in the democratic process and in the perfection of the American democracy, that allowed someone like Trump (or Obama, or Bush Jr.) to become the President.

          Unfortunately, botvinnik is correct, the US is well short of true democracy by most measures.

        2. I think you confused the definitions of democracy and anarchy. True democracy is representative: a system of government where eligible population (adults with legal status in the land) vote for their representatives in the government bodies and for their leader(s).

        3. That may be correct (about slavery), but your second statement is clearly absurd.

          Tyranny is when a small group of conservative rulers dictate what a woman can or cannot do with her body. Or whom a man can or cannot marry. Or in which bathroom a woman can or cannot go.

          You clearly don’t care about facts. You have your ideological blinders and any discussion that requires reason, thinking, intelligence and some knowledge is futile.

        4. “Very often, Americans like to claim, and take pride in, the fact that they have the greatest democracy in the world.”

          Yes, we can. We can revel proudly in the greatest form of government ever conceived by mankind.

          So sorry you don’t get it foreigner and your feeble attempts to twist it into something that fits your skewed narrative, is plain to see and fails miserably. Judging by the volume of your posts two things are clear:

          1. You hate America.

          2. You hate people that love America (Botty).

          Pity … 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

        5. Your biggest problem seems to be that you only love the part of America that looks and thinks exactly like you.

          Now, your part of America just won an election (fair and square, this must be repeated, to make sure everyone’s clear!). But make no mistake, according to those who voted in that election, less than half of American population does look like that.

          In other words, you (or Botty) don’t love all of America; you only love the smaller half that thinks like you. You seem to passionately the other (bigger) half that voted for Hillary Clinton. You deride them mercilessly at any given chance, you dismiss may of them as less worthy citizens, you support removing their rights (to marry, to use the bathroom, etc).

          It is extremely disingenuous when you say that you love America. You clearly don’t; you only love one part of it (the smaller part), and can’t stand the other part.

          For one part, the last eight years were the greatest eight contiguous years in the history of the country. For the other part, it was the longest nightmare from which they are finally waking up.

          As I said some time ago, the ideological division in America has come to a point where the only solution would be partitioning it in two halves and putting an international border between them.

          As for my own loving or hating America, it is not my country to love or hate. I am not completely indifferent to it (obviously, as I currently live here, legally, as a legal non-resident alien), but you clearly are incapable of reading if after everything I wrote your conclusion is that I hate your country.

        6. Don’t speak for me clueless and foist your right-wing cartoon stereotypical hatred my way. THAT’s YOUR PROBLEM! 😡

          You want to lump me in with Botty, Firsty, wonderful. Great minds travel the same path …

          Wish I could say the same for you, Melvin and the rest of the dishonest dem/lib/prog ilk.

        7. You are making my argument for me!

          I’m not sure what kind of hatred you are practicing (cartoon, stereotypical, or otherwise), but it is quite clear and obvious from your message that the only kind of Americans you love are Botty, Firsty and similar; the rest, according to you, are dishonest, stupid, intolerant, unpatriotic, globalist trash. While not all these words were used in your last message, I am certain that in the last ten of them, we could find them all as epithets for the half of Americans that you don’t like (in addition to a foreigner like me).

          Not in a single message of mine have I ever written an offensive word against you, or labelled you anything other than what you are: a conservative ideologue (and that one may well be taken as a compliment by some ). Same goes for all others here, regardless of their domestic political ideology.

          You cancel the value of any valid argument you may have when you insult others. You should remember that.

        8. “You are making my argument for me!”

          Your most clueless statement to date! Look everybody, PreDuh is using a debate tactic 101. When confronted with the facts you obviously cannot deny and are afraid to address directly — you ATTEMPT to turn it around on the other person. It’s just wrong and does not work. Not now, not ever.

          “I’m not sure what kind of hatred you are practicing (cartoon, stereotypical, or otherwise), but it is quite clear and obvious from your message that the only kind of Americans you love are Botty, Firsty and similar …”

          I can’t believe how smug brainless you are. Adding to your confusing list of insulting me and calling me a hateful person, news flash — you don’t know me. But we all know liberals know everything.

          Then you follow it up with yet another smug brainless comment pretending to know whom I love! News flash take two — you don’t know me and don’t speak for me you tedious moron. I have a good track record of not insulting persons directly, with rare exception — but in your case I’ll gladly make an exception.

          “Not in a single message of mine have I ever written an offensive word against you … ”

          🐂💩🐂💩🐂💩🐂💩🐂💩
          Wow, clueless grande!

          “You cancel the value of any valid argument you may have when you insult others. You should remember that.”

          Oh sorry, I am not behaving properly according to the PC Libtard playbook that rules all nations of YOUR earth. Cancels nothing. Facts speak for themselves, foreigner. You have no skin in America because you don’t live here.

          So, I and probably others would appreciate if you cease leftist activist comments designed to denigrate America to no good purpose. It’s insulting.

          You should remember that … 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

        9. Once again, your last message reinforces all my points.

          Look, I don’t know you personally (nor do you know me); all I know about you is what you write on this forum. And everything I’ve seen so far indicates your hatred against those (in your country, or outside), who don’t share your political ideology. Your last message makes it patently obvious, as it is filled with insults and expletives (in verbal, as well as graphic form): “…smug… brainless… tedious moron…” plus some icons of cows and cow dung, I presume.

          If we search MDN for GoeB (short for Goebbels, perhaps?), we will see plenty of messages laced with similar epithets, directed at people who clearly don’t share your political ideology.

          In many ways you resemble Trump: evidence and data is right in front of you, but you continue to claim the opposite (highest attendance at inauguration! Most watched inauguration! — both easily confirmed as wrong). No wonder sales of George Orwell’s “1984” are surging…

          Oh, and on your last point: I have lived in the US for the past 25 years. While I am not a citizen (nor am I likely to become one anytime soon), there is a valid and compelling reason for me to say what I want to say about your country. So, I would suggest not holding your breath waiting for me to cease writing my thoughts.

          After all, if you look at cumulative star ratings on these comments, yours seem to be significantly lower than mine. While there is little true value in those ratings, they do reflect the opinions of readers on this forum, which means that, at least on MDN, readers prefer to read my comments than yours.

        10. “After all, if you look at cumulative star ratings on these comments, yours seem to be significantly lower than mine.”

          And that is supposed to mean something SIGNIFICANT IN LIFE?!? 😆😆😆

          “While there is little true value in those ratings …”

          The first thing you have said in ages that is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. But as is your manipulative style you contradict yourself in the next sentence and try to have it both ways. We are ON to your deceit.

          “… they do reflect the opinions of readers on this forum …”

          You and I don’t know what they reflect. Read that again and pay attention. You most likely wrongly assume they are 100% honest and pure as the driven snow. Breaking news: No one knows precisely and in the journalism and legal world’s star ratings would be classified as UNSCIENTIFIC.

          Got it? Probably not.

          Unless you are a dumbass we ALL know how to vote OVER and OVER on various devices we own at work and at home.

          How intellectually shallow to BELIEVE your personal worth rests on MANIPULATIVE star ratings?!?

          WOW!!!

          How scientific! How accurate! How journalistically responsible!

          No, how naive … 🤔

          ROTFL. 😂

        11. What a sad little person… Clearly, the ratings thing hurts a lot, triggering such massive emotional verbal diarrhea…

          Yes, three million illegals voted for the other person. There. I hope you feel better now…

        12. “What a sad little person…”

          Your opinion counts for zero, got it? I’m just wonderful, thank you very much. Funny, I’ve been thinking the exact same thing regarding your attitude for some time now.

          “Clearly, the ratings thing hurts a lot, triggering such massive emotional verbal diarrhea…”

          Yup, you know all about verbal tedious diarrhea ad naseum. Yes, the down ratings thing hurts a lot. Botty beats me every time! I’ll have to start down voting myself over and over on all my devices to have any chance of catching up. 😜

          “Yes, three million illegals voted for the other person. There. I hope you feel better now…”

          I feel fine. No, It was 2.7 million votes, not 3 million, in four precincts around El-Lay – that would be Hollwood Liberal La La Land. Yes, illegals voted and we don’t know how many. But I’ll venture a guess that the highest number of illegal votes was in Cali-Forn-ya.

          Now go away, you’re wasting my time. Of course I know you won’t. You get a sick pleasure out of constantly annoying and misrepresenting posters you disagree with sad little man …

      1. You’re right. Solutions: Get rid of the Electoral College and political parties. One man, one vote; Candidates stand alone for what they personally believe in.

        1. Benjamin Franklin disagrees with you:
          “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting what is for dinner.”

          The function of a constitutional republic is to protect and defend the rights of the individual over the collective. Those rights are enumerated by the consent of the governed in the Constitution.

        2. That was another era. Things like literacy and secure voting and electronic propaganda machines are different now in case you haven’t noticed. Why, since 1920 we even started letting women have a say in who leads. He only real reason for an electoral college is that entrenched political parties already know how to game the system. If the USA got smart and actually implented term limits, instant runoff voting, and clear rules and testing, the nation would be closer to the democratic ideal. As it is, the kleptocratic duopoly ensures that ~60% of the public is disenfranchised at any given time.

        3. “since 1920 we even started letting women have a say in who leads.”

          a notable achievement of the rights of the individual over the collective as noted in the 19th Amendment…an achievement that could never have occurred in the mob mentality of “true democracy.”

        4. And since 1967, you (Americans) started allowing blacks to marry whites. And in 1973, you started allowing women to make decisions concerning their own bodies. And in 2015, you started letting people marry whom they please. All significant achievements in civil rights.

          Are you really claiming that this wasn’t the working of a constitutional democracy, in which the “mob rule” (opinion of the majority) was overruled in order to uphold the constitutional right?

        5. That is absolutely correct. The highest law in any land, the constitution, is there to protect everyone’s right guaranteed by that law of the land. A constitutional republic by definition guarantees those rights.

          However, governing the land can only be done by exercising the will of the majority. This does not automatically infringe on the rights of any individual or group (there is that constitution that prohibits that), but it allows the diverse population to govern in the way that suits the most. The only right way to govern really is by representative democracy: majority decides who will represent them, and those who represent them make decisions. Any other way makes no sense and is simply dictatorship of the powerful over the disenfranchised.

        6. “However, governing the land can only be done by exercising the will of the majority. This does not automatically infringe on the rights of any individual or group…”

          uh, yes it does if that same majority votes to infringe on the individual’s rights.

          You simply do not understand how a republic works…begin reading Plato. You are a fool.

        7. I’ll say this once again (clearly, some people here are a bit slow):

          You have your constitution that prevents infringement on the individual rights. And judicial system that lets you challenge any such infringement. As mentioned above, plenty of examples exist wherein the decisions of the majority that infringed on the rights of the individual were successfully challenged through the judicial system and ultimately invalidated by the highest court in the land.

          That is what how your constitutional democracy is supposed to work. There is really no need for the electoral system for the presidency.

        8. I’ll say this once again (clearly, some people here are a bit slow):

          The United States is NOT a democracy, constitutional or bi-polar or any other bullshit you assign to that noun. It is a constitutional republic.

        9. You may keep saying that, but others, at all levels of government, in addition to other Americans of all walks of life, like to say, with great pride, that America is the greatest DEMOCRACY in the world. The point is, it is just a word.

          I would agree with you in that, while they may claim this, the fact remains that it has a long way to go before it becomes a true representative democracy (or constitutional republic, as you are fond of calling it). One way to make it happen is to eliminate the electoral system. Once that is done, they will have a legitimate claim that the country truly is a representative democracy (or a constitutional republic, whatever you want to call it). Today, it isn’t, as long as it has an election system where winner of most votes doesn’t actually win.

        10. Well, we may look into some textbooks and if we use very precise, academic definitions, than you may be correct in that there is a difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic.

          When people, such as your president, vice-president, your president’s opponent in the elections from last year, as well as all past presidents declare that they are proud of the American democracy, they are referring to a representative form of democracy, also known as constitutional republic in some geeky academic circles.

          When facts begin piling on and getting in your way, you simply begin twisting words and redirecting the debate. That is fairly transparent and doesn’t quite work.

    2. You know… a smooth power transition from one party to another is not really that unique. It happens all over the world all the time. Is that not what you were taught in school?

    1. Oh yeah, the peaceful transition of power is “the worst day in this country’s history…”
      • Pearl Harbor
      • 9/11
      • JFK Assassination
      • Fort Sumter
      • Stock Market Crash of 1929
      • Trail of Tears

      you goddamned idiot.

      1. You are dishonest. When a normal person sees someone writing “Muslim” (and it refers to Obama), they clearly see someone who is either idiot, or ideologically brainwashed, or seriously annoyed by the fact that his guy(s) lost and the other guy won. We are now eight years later and you are still holding a grudge for those losses! You say, when you say Muslim, everyone reading it immediately dismisses everything you write after that as ideologically brainwashed and tainted. You aren’t really helping your argument.

  2. What does this have to do with Apple? Absolutely nothing, it’s called clickbait!

    I’m sorry, this site ain’t what it used to be and the debate was a lot more cerebral and posters were well mannered. Now look at.
