What you and botty refuse to understand is that the national credit card doesn’t come with a 30 day payment period. The fed issues bonds for 10 years and more. The debt that Obama had to service came from 30 years of almost constant deficit spending by both parties. Obama entered office facing the worst recession in 2 generations and saw America mired in Bush’s wars at a cost of hundreds of millions per day.
I’d say Obama turned the Bush recession around as well as any human could. The trend of Obama’s growth will continue for perhaps 3 years or more unless Trump royally screws it up.

Looked great on paper though, and the supposedly fiscally responsible repubs let Bush ignore the reality. When the house of cards came crashing down , Obama had to turn around 7 years of fiscal insanity in no time. Well, he did it just as his Goldman Sachs (same as Trump, by the way) advisors recommend: deficit funded stimulus. recovery of household income and ownership stats OBVIOUSLY lag the mortgage mess cleanup. So if you look at median income since 2011, Obama’s stimulus worked. Longest streak of growth in recorded American history.

Sadly, not going to happen. Half of the country’s population thinks that today marks the end of America and everything great it stood for for the past eight years. To the other half, eight years of national nightmare is over and the country has been saved. There is no reconciling these two sides.
There are no indications that President Trump intends to shift his tone (and attitude) towards reconciliation; after all, he made some election promises, and he may well want to keep at least some of them. As long as that is the case, the other half of the country will simply try to do what the Republicans were doing for the past eight years: put obstacles in President’s path at every chance they get.
In American bi-polar democracy, the chances of political progress are extremely slim. Until Americans re-learn to listen to the other side, future progress will be elusive, and the paralysing political gridlock will persist.

That is absolutely correct. The highest law in any land, the constitution, is there to protect everyone’s right guaranteed by that law of the land. A constitutional republic by definition guarantees those rights.
However, governing the land can only be done by exercising the will of the majority. This does not automatically infringe on the rights of any individual or group (there is that constitution that prohibits that), but it allows the diverse population to govern in the way that suits the most. The only right way to govern really is by representative democracy: majority decides who will represent them, and those who represent them make decisions. Any other way makes no sense and is simply dictatorship of the powerful over the disenfranchised.

You have your constitution that prevents infringement on the individual rights. And judicial system that lets you challenge any such infringement. As mentioned above, plenty of examples exist wherein the decisions of the majority that infringed on the rights of the individual were successfully challenged through the judicial system and ultimately invalidated by the highest court in the land.
That is what how your constitutional democracy is supposed to work. There is really no need for the electoral system for the presidency.
