Greenlight’s David Einhorn: Own Apple to be well-positioned for Trump presidency

“Greenlight’s David Einhorn released his investor letter in which he lays out how to be well-positioned for the Trump presidency,” Chris DeMuth Jr. writes for Seeking Alpha.

“That positioning contemplates new tax policies,” DeMuth Jr. writes. “Einhorn is long Apple in part because the company could gain from tax reform and new policies around tax-efficient repatriation of foreign cash, of which Apple has a boatload.”

“They have over $200 billion of such offshore cash that could return to the US during the Trump administration,” DeMuth Jr. writes. “Apple’s accrual of a 25% GAAP tax rate is high among its peers, so a corporate tax cut would be a real benefit. Apple is one of Greenlight’s top five disclosed long positions.”

    1. He already saved the Republic by being such a disaster:

      House – Massive margin.
Senate – Soon to be massive margin.
      Governorships – They hold a whopping 17!
Statehouse Seats – Lost over 1,000 while Obama in office.
Supreme Court – Several Trump appointments.

  1. And depending where you are, some deep bunkers that are shielded against radiation and can take a direct 150 megaton hit are a good investment to be well-position for any chump resident.

Actually considering their “aim for Bin hit Saddam” guidance system, deep bunkers make sense anywhere you are.

Such bunkers will be available in all the new Gitmotrumpo towers.

      1. That’s a relief, now we know for sure none of them will hit. Besides, you’ll be busy looking for that massive Iraqi weapons of mass destruction program they have over there. How’s that search going for you?

  2. Trump is the most deplorable and dangerous thing to have ever happened to this country. I shall do everything in my power to refute and resist. I am hoping that Tim Cook and Apple, as well as all of Tech mirror the stance that artists, musicians, and empathetic humanitarians have taken. We shall boycott, and we shall fight. He is illegitimate, he is far from qualified. What an embarrassment. America 2017: a urine- stained old couch.

    1. For now Trump is legitimate. He won the votes that mattered.

However, if solid evidence emerged that he had coordinated with Russia during the campaign regarding the hacking or release of hacked documents, that would be worse than Watergate.

So far his behavior has just been wacky shenanigans, contradicted by his own appointees, throwing tantrums about news reports or celebrity statements, dissing our allies, loving on Putin, etc. He has no idea what being president means yet. ADD in full swing.

Its anyone’s guess what kind of unnecessary messes Trump will make, but he is going to make them.

It is just too early to be freaking out one way or another.

      1. I have a feeling watching Trump is going to feel like watching a classic episode of Seinfeld, where you know George is about to do something totally appalling and embarrassing, and you squirm in your seat because you want to look away. But you won’t look away because, well, you just have to see what it is that he’ll do.
