Android settlers are about to understand there’s a limit to what you an achieve with hype and marketing

“Android smartphone sales have declined for not one, not two, but six quarters in the US, according to Kantar Worldpane,” Jonny Evans reports for Apple Must. “This is not a sudden death moment, the various Android brands share over half the smartphone market in the US, and while this doesn’t really equate to fiscal riches it does equate to market share.”

“‘iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 6s were the three most popular smartphones in the US at the beginning of the holiday period, for a combined 31.3% share. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge were the fourth and fifth best-selling phones in the US, with Samsung capturing 28.9% of smartphone sales,’ Kantar explains,” Evans writes. “What this means is that Android has failed to excite the US market for a year and a half — even though both Samsung and Google have attempted to excite the market in that time. Pixel attracted just 1.2 percent of sales, despite huge hype, massive advertising, and the support of a compliant media.”

“My take? The latest data shows Android at its highest point, but that ecosystem is about to understand that there is a limit to what you an achieve with hype and media marketing,” Evans writes. “To survive in the long game you need to be authentic. You need to be one of the crazy ones.”

MacDailyNews Take: If it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone.

Ditto for the Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch.

With each passing day, more and more learn this lesson as they correct their previous poor buying decisions.

Amassing market share for the sake of amassing market share is a fool’s errand.

      1. I want people to have android phones, if everyone had apple it would be a creepy world. I used to line the exclusivity of having Apple products. Now its a comodity.

Apple needs compettition or it will sit on their laurels,,,, oh wait.

  1. Please, I am no fan of Trump, but I do not want to see the anti-Trump faction on this forum behave like Fwhatever and botty and Kent and the like. This article (amazingly for MDN) did not even contain a political angle, so there is no excuse at all for going there.

      1. No, unless he changes fundamental behavior his current 39% approval will continue to crater. His problem isn’t simply numbers, the economy has been steadily improving for 6 ½ years and growth hit 3% this past September, with unemployment holding steady at 4.7%. In economics anything around that level is considered “full employment”, and it can’t physically drop much lower due to limiting factors like disabilities, illness, etc. And even if that were to improve it won’t help his most vocal supporters who are losing their jobs to automation, not immigrants. If they don’t retrain or re educate, they’re screwed regardless. There was an article posted on here about apple expanding US manufacturing, that is probably true, but they’ll do it with robots not thousands of people. Even Foxconn is automating overseas and those many thousands of people will lose their jobs too. Couple that with his inability to accept any criticism whatsoever, and his incompetence when it comes to understanding the legislative process, and it’s recipe for very deep unpopularity. Also the policies he’s proposing (especially tax related) will not help the economy long term, there may be a short bubble, but it will crash just like it did in 1929, 1987 & 2007 when those same policies were full bore.

His other problem is his complete lack of factual statements. There is a portion of this country that will believe anything he says, but the rest of the world will not (because they actually fact check) and most people do understand that he is incapable of being honest. Take the tax return issue, he says they’re under audit. Not only is there no proof that’s true at all, there is nothing preventing him from releasing his returns while they’re under audit.. even Nixon released his while under audit, and that should give anyone pause as to what he’s hiding in there. If he would simply produce the audit form letter from the IRS, this could be put to bed.

        1. There’s no question we’ve never had a president like Trump. He is constantly trying to distract his opponents while he is strategically out positioning them. This game works in business, but not sure how it will play out in Government and World Relations. But the media sure takes the bait each and every time.

Sadly, I’m not sure he is capable of changing.

        2. Voice, do you work at Buzzfeed? You sound as if you work at Buzzfeed.

“Taken together, the numbers show that there’s more to meets the eye than a headline unemployment rate of 4.6 percent, the lowest since August 2007. Because that number ignores those not in the labor force, as well as workers at part-time jobs for economic reasons, it doesn’t tell the whole story. A broader jobless measure is at 9.3 percent.”

        3. Have you read the full 35 page report on Buzzfeed? I just finished it and wow. Once you get past the golden shower part it is real interesting. Much more anti Putin than anything. It is very believable. It questions itself, and shows where facts can be fuzzy. Trump will be in trouble with this with anything he helps Russia with. It doesn’t say anything pro Hillary, in fact it supports the information in the leaks about her. It does show how Putin is more afraid of her than Trump. If there are no hearings on this, or at least a quarter of what was done to Hillary than it will show that the GOP is full of crap in how much they care about our country. This Dems will use this against them. There is that much there.

If the golden shower video was to suffice it will be the most watched video ever.

        4. I agree with you. You have put a lot of time and thought into your statement. However you are going way over the heads of a lot of the Trump supports (not all). Remember anything good will be because of him. Anything bad will be because of congress, even though they are Republicans.

        5. 100% correct on the automation part. Trump won’t be able to bring back manufacturing jobs. Nobody can. When that becomes obvious there’s gong to be a backlash. It’s going to get rough over the next few years folks. Sorry, but even those currently posting frog pictures and those oh-so-funny memes about mugs are going to feel the pain.

  2. I disagree Mel.

After the 8 years of Obama bashing, ignorant, racist, and xenophobic comments on these boards, they have no fucking idea what pure vile, hatred and ignorance they actually deserve to have to read about their mind boggling messiah, each and every day they come here. In my heart of hearts I hope some of us can devolve and create troll accounts like First2020, and Libtardvik. But I know most fucking liberals have too much class to act like the chimpanzee raping frogs (google it) the conservative trolls are here.
