“After first testing out a new update to the Photos web app on the iCloud beta website earlier this month, Apple has now rolled out the update to all users,” Mitchel Broussard reports for MacRumors.
“The overhaul to the app on iCloud.com introduces a macOS-like Photos experience with a sidebar that can be toggled on and off, and a scrollable thumbnail view of every photo in an album at the bottom of the site when looking at individual pictures,” Broussard reports.
“The Photos web app on iCloud.com is still lacking macOS and iOS features like editing, shared albums, memories, and people, which uses facial recognition to organize your photos on Mac and iPhone,” Broussard reports.

MacDailyNews Take: Anything that becomes more Mac-like is perfectly fine with us.
Apple’s Photos whether on the web or in-app is pitiful. Wish Apple had simply improved Aperture rather than changing over to Photos, and in-turn, left iPhoto alone. Aperture was a much better user experience than Lightroom.
Agreed. I’m still using Aperture in MacOS Sierra. Just can’t pull the plug and move over to Photos or Lightroom. Both are a step down from the Aperture’s DAM.
Too bad Aperture is not compatible with iCloud. If it were, I’d still be using it.
still no unlimited photo storage option
Aperture on your Mac. Or Adobe if your employer is willing to pay the subscription. iCloud is a bag of hurt. Slow, clunky, limited.
i forgot to put it “free” unlimited storage option.
I dont mind the privacy though
