The Amplifi HD is another excellent candidate for an Apple router replacement

“The eero Wi-Fi system (see my review here) and Amplifi HD are both excellent products for implementing a mesh network,” Dennis Sellers writes for AppleWorld Today. “In fact, it’s pretty much a toss-up as to which is better; the choice all comes down to which handful of features is more useful to you.”

“The $349 [$298 via Amazon] AmpliFi HD (High Density) System includes a router base station and two wireless super mesh points for Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home or office,” Sellers writes. “Like the eero, it’s very Apple-like in its implementation. The router includes a LCD touch screen, and the mesh points display wireless signal performance. A mobile app is available for iOS and Android platforms for easy setup and management of your network.”

“You can set up the entire system in under 15 minutes,” Sellers writes. “Open the app after you have everything powered up. The app directs your iOS device to connect to a direct connection with the AmpliFi base station and prompts you through the rest of the setup process. Easy breezy.”

MacDailyNews Take: Looks very good. As Sellers writes, “The AmpliFi HD router is a thing of beauty, something Apple design guru Jony Ive could have conceived.” It’s something you might want to display rather than hide, like most non-Apple routers.

    1. In my opinion this is the best router out there. Just got mine about 1 month ago. Fast, No dead spots, Easy to install, Great UI… this is way better than my old AirPort Extreme w/ 2 additional expresses. Did a lot of comparisons with other mesh router and this one was rated the fastest. Only downside was the cost.

  1. best replacment for Apple routers, Airport/Time Capsule( love the thing ) would be :

a new updated airport/time capsule with digital assistant capabilities. Period !

Apple stop smoking what you are and dont Axe this prodouct .

    1. No they haven’t, its speculation, According to sources they dissolved the unite that does those products. But, they could have simply reassigned those engineers to another product which will be the airport’s successor.
