Nintendo’s iOS-only ‘Super Mario Run’ arrives on Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

“Those who own an Apple device can now welcome Super Mario Run to their gadgets,” Violet Little reports for LoadTheGame. “Nintendo’s mobile game based on the character who made our lives a lot more fun in the 80’s and 90’s will reach iPhones and iPads starting Thursday.”

“The $9.99 price tag of the game with unlimited access is not really high, so those who really want to enjoy this game won’t have to reach deep into their pockets in order to do so,” Little reports. “Nintendo opted for a one-time fee for the game.”

“What is your opinion on the matter?” Little asks. “Would you spend money on in-app purchases rather than paying once for the game?”

  1. I downloaded the game early today. The first three worlds have three levels, and those are free (at least in the version I have). After playing for four or five hours I haven’t completed all the levels in the first three worlds. The game isn’t complicated to understand, but it is challenging. It’s also addicting. I haven’t purchased a mobile game since Cut The Rope, but will probably pay for Mario.

The timing of the Mario release on iOS is perfect. It’s going to be funny seeing all the kids with iPhones and iPads playing Mario over the holidays, but the unfortunate Android schlubs will be stuck playing with lumps of coal. The less fortunate will be saying things like, “That game sucks. It needs a wireless connection, so you can’t play it on the subway.” And the seven-year-old kid will answer, “Why would I want to play Mario on top of a sandwich, weirdo?”
