“President-elect Donald Trump met with Apple board member and former Vice President Al Gore at Trump Tower on Monday,” Antonio José Vielma reports for CNBC.
“As he was leaving Trump Tower, Gore told reporters he had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect, and mentioned he also had an earlier meeting with Trump’s daughter Ivanka,” Vielma reports. “‘It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,’ he said. ‘I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.'”
“The former vice president joined the Apple board in 2003,” Vielma reports. “As of earlier this year, he owned a little more than 440,000 shares, according to filings.”

“Ivanka Trump is one of the most influential people in Trump’s life and is a member of his transition team, although she has said she does not plan to take an active role in her father’s administration,” Jenna Johnson and Juliet Eilperin report for The Washington Post. “Her husband, Jared Kushner, is one of Trump’s most trusted aides, and the couple are reportedly house-hunting in Washington.”
Johnson and Eilperin report, “While Gore was not personally close to Hillary Clinton — their relationship became strained in the wake of President Bill Clinton’s impeachment and as they both vied for Democratic donors’ support during their respective political bids in 2000 — the former vice president campaigned on her behalf late in this year’s presidential campaign.”

The measured US temperature data from USHCN shows that the US is on a long-term cooling trend. But the reported temperatures from NOAA show a strong warming trend.
They accomplish this through a spectacular hockey stick of data tampering, which corrupts the US temperature trend by almost two degrees.
The biggest component of this fraud is making up data. Almost half of all reported US temperature data is now fake. They fill in missing rural data with urban data to create the appearance of non-existent US warming.
The depths of this fraud is breathtaking, but completely consistent with the fraudulent profession which has become known as “climate science.”

I think this new government will think different, since Trump is not an abject minion of any establishment. He was a stealth candidate for Himself, and beat all the other horses with his own healthy instincts about people’s fear and loathing. It helped that he wasn’t taken seriously by any established politicos; he crept up on them. And it helped that Republican gerrymandering altered the district voting maps that led to his triumph in the electoral college.
But with or without help, his ascendence to power has shaken the world political system to its roots. That may turn out to be a good thing. For one thing, it proves to the world once again that anyone can become President of the U.S. That individualistic aspiration is vacated by every other country on the planet. It signals that we still possess a really great, really egalitarian system, compared to the brutal and life-sapping theocracies, dictatorships, and oligarchies of the rest of the world.
Trump does not want or need brown shirts to rough up people in the streets, in order to keep people in line with policy. His policies are fluid, consistent with his desire for popularity. He does not possess a specific political ideology, and that is genius, for it provides him freedom to propose shockingly novel policies.
And finally, he is not, by any measure, a complete fool, subject to the hypnotic influence of a ruling class or any other imagined cabal. He’s conscious, and not anyone’s puppet.

• Trump won 3,084 of them.
• Clinton won 57.

If I was diagnosed with some form of cancer and I went to 99 other doctors and 96 of them concurred with the original opinion who would I believe the three dissenters or the gross majority who gave the same opinion?
Likewise, in business, there is a term called “risk management” and that means, in a nutshell you plan for the worst possible outcome and have steps in play to minimise or eradicate the the threat as the case may be. That is sound management.
On the other hand you can blithely ignore possible threats and then if the worst case happens you are screwed because you didn’t plan for this outcome. It’s kinda of like Steve Ballmer discounting the importance of smart phones…and look what happened there.
Frankly I don’t give a rodent’s posterior for information from fringe sites. When 97 percent of reputable scientists say global warming is a threat I prefer to err on the conservative side and take that threat seriously.
And when my former students used to ask me to prove global warming was real I’d just tell them to look at their back yard and look for the changes.
In Australia we’re having record temperatures practically every year. Our winters are getting shorter and shorter and our summers are now punctuated by bursts of heat and torrential downpours. More and more people in this country are dying from extended heat waves and larger parts of the country are becoming uninhabitable.
As a retired teacher and businessperson I prefer to open my eyes and look at the long term and, frankly, if any company didn’t plan for worst case scenarios I’d view them as being pretty damn reckless and wouldn’t have anything to do with them.
The world (and business included) is moving over towards alternative and cleaner methods of power generation. It’s happening and that’s it. You’re either a part of it or you become like Ballmer’s smart phone. End of story!
