“Apple is expected to release the ‘iPhone 8’ in September 2017 with a major redesign. Some of the highlights include an edge-to-edge OLED display with the front-facing camera and Home button — including the Touch ID fingerprint sensor — integrated into the screen itself,” Amit Chowdhry writes for Forbes. “The iPhone 8 is also reportedly going to have a glass body rather than the same aluminum housing we have seen in the last few generations of iPhones. Recently a couple more leaks surfaced that revealed Apple has a few more tricks up its sleeve to make the iPhone 8 stand out from the competition.”
“MacRumors obtained a research note by Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable analyst at KGI Securities, that says he believes the new dual-camera iPhone models will have dual optical image stabilization (OIS),” Chowdhry writes. “Earlier this month, Kuo also reported that the iPhone 8 will come in three models: one curved 5.8-inch OLED model and two TFT-LCD models. One TFT-LCD model will be a 4.7-inch and the other will be a 5.5-inch. According to Kuo, the OLED model and the larger TFT-LCD model will have the dual cameras and dual optical image stabilization… Apple is reportedly revamping the telephoto lens that is being used for the optical zoom emulation capabilities, which should be ready in time for the iPhone 8 release.”

“Last month, Nikkei reported that Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) was actively manufacturing wireless charging modules for the iPhone 8,” Chowdhry writes. “The iPhone 8 is reportedly going to be chargeable from a distance of up to 15 feet from a plugged-in transmitter… According to BGR, Energous is believed to be the supplier of the wireless technology being integrated into the iPhone 8. VentureBeat got wind of Energous’ involvement with Apple a couple of months ago by looking at regulatory filings citing Apple compliance testing.”

I think Apple should refrain from naming any more of it’s product ‘Pro” from now on, and you know why……
If they called the trash can just “Mac” that would have cleared up some confusion for me.
But that still leaves me waiting for a pro GPU-performance Mac.
Strange comment a mere weeks after they released a new Macbook Pro.

Techy guys like on this forum can handle 4 iPhones in a product line, but the average consumer can’t…keep your product line simple…no more than 3 iPhones. Many won’t even be able to distinguish between 3 very easily.

If I remember correctly, one of the first things Steve Jobs did on his return to Apple was to implement a 70% reduction in the number of models. I think we need to thin the selection a bit again… Do we need 21 iPad models, or 11 iPhone models available in stores now?

The problem with naming things by years is that if you release it towards the end of the year it sounds out of date to many people almost immediately. I would have thought that the model(s) on release would just be iPhone, iPhone Plus, etc, with older models then being referred to by the year of their release similar to how macs are.
Load up on Energous shares. Wireless charging is soon going to be the norm.
Do your do deligence. Remember GT Advanced Technologies? I bet some of the “Tim must be fired” posters lost a lot of money investing in that company.

In our household there are 2) iPhones. Will one wireless charger take care of charging two phones simultaneously?
I have no idea how wireless charging works. But unless each charger is paired to a specific device then it sounds like one charger might try charging any device in it’s range that can be charged. Will it now take twice as long to charge each phone since TNSTAAFL when it comes to power?
