“Sony’s web TV service PlayStation Vue is now available on the fourth generation Apple TV,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac. “Previously, PS Vue customers could authenticate paid video apps with Sony credentials, but access to live channel streaming was limited.”
“The new app has a fairly sleek interface once you get past the cumbersome authentication process (which requires going to a Sony URL and entering a lengthy numerical passcode),” Hall reports. “PlayStation Vue includes access to live TV streaming plus access to on demand content. A Cloud DVR feature also lets you save content to watch later or pause shows during live playback.”
“The service did see a major setback recently, however, with channels from Viacom disappearing for subscribers,” Hall reports. “These include MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon which were reportedly going to increase the cost of the monthly service.”

It’s included in the bundle one size up, for $35 a month. I’m gonna switch from SlingTV to PSVue, cause it’s $5 cheaper and I get some channels I was missing, like ComcastSportsNet, TCM, Discovery, NBAtv, etc.
Sweet! Vue is a great service to get local sports and news. It got me to finally cut the cord. Like my Giants and Warrior games. Never thought it would be allowed. Apple is getting it!

This is what Apple was supposedly going to be offering with the release of AppleTV (Gen4) a year ago. This is even at the price range that Apple was rumored to be targeting.
• Was Apple too greedy with the content providers?
• I am surprised that Apple allows Sony to do this?
• Why has not Apple done the same?

Perhaps Sony has more influence in this area due to actually owning content companies to get the deals Apple cannot. As a result Apple is settling for a more “dumb pipe” role till they can get their own deals.
