“The headquarters of Samsung Electronics – the Samsung Group’s cash cow – was raided by prosecutors yesterday as the political crisis that has gripped South Korea ensnared the country’s biggest conglomerate as well,” SamMobile reports. “Samsung’s HQ in the upscale Gangnam area of Seoul was searched by prosecutors after days of allegations in local media that the Samsung had poured in millions of euro into a foundation run by a ‘shaman adviser’ and long-time friend of President Park Geun-hye.”
“This political scandal started when it became evident that Choi Soon-sil, a long-term personal friend of the president who holds no government position had actually been influencing presidential decisions,” SamMobile reports. “Ms. Park has received a lot of criticism for this and the public has been protesting daily as allegations of selling influence and corruption threaten to bring down the presidency.”
“Ms. Choi is now in detention. It’s claimed that she used her position of confidence with Ms. Park to put pressure on major conglomerates like Samsung, SK group and Lotte to download millions of euro to foundations controlled by her,” SamMobile reports. “The police are now looking into claims made by local media last week that Samsung had transferred 2.8 million euro to Widec Sports in Germany which is controlled by Ms. Choi.”

No one expects A government raid! Our chief weapon is surprise, fear and surprise; two chief weapons, fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency! Er, among our chief weapons are: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, and near fanatical devotion to Samsung!
Oops.
Raid is not enough. Fines and jail time is what I’m looking for.

Samsung: ‘WILL IT EVER STOP?!?’

So Samsung came to my home day before yesterday. No seriously!
I’ve been renovating one of my houses into a cafeteria + bookstore + gallery + AV theatre (and an Aerospace firm on the 3rd floor). Local Samsung group thought it best to provide me with a VRF based central AC solution for the entire building. My manager tried to dissuade them at the front gate by sharing how I felt about Samsung. The rep got curious as to why I don’t care for anything Samsung and requested for an audience. I felt he was earnest in his curiosity, so laid on him how I really felt about the Samsung world order. He came back the next day with two of his chief engineers (wonderfully jolly and competent folks them) and almost convinced me that they were a serious contender with a solid system for a somewhat reasonable price. Dagnabbit! This was on the same day as the Trump card victory and here I was set off to do some soul searching by Samsung reps of all folks.
Last evening on a lovely dinner date at a Korean restaurant (completely coincidental), I dropped on my wife that I am considering Samsung for our central AC system. She seemed shocked and this morning after breakfast she told me that I shouldn’t waiver from my principles. Rest of my other houses we rely mostly Siemens but they don’t do central AC here. This is why one pays top dollars for a great wife .
So, I asked Siri to find me a local Daikin rep. Had a chat with them and they told me that they don’t compete with Samsung pricing as per company policy. The local rep actually said, Samsung stole the VRV technology that they invented and call it VRF. They are but thieves and their product quality reflects that. Wow!
So, I chuckled that they were preaching to the choir here. Anyway, we are meeting after lunch today and whether or not I can afford Daikin, I’ve made up my mind, I’m keeping my house Samsung and Google free. I can ill-afford this trade-off.
Samsung steals tech from everyone. TSMC, Sony, Dyson, the list goes on… Buying their products is like buying a Chanel bag from Canal Street in NYC.
