“Samsung and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling 2.8 million of Samsung’s top-loading washing machines after reports that 730 units exploded, resulting in nine injuries, the CPSC announced today,” Gerry Wagschal, Gio Benitez and Conor Ferguson report for Good Morning America. “We’re talking about … a very serious hazard of the top of these washing machines completely blowing off, Elliot Kaye, the chairman of the CPSC, told GMA Investigates in an interview that aired Friday. ‘It is a lot of reports.'”
“Kaye said the tops of the affected units weren’t ‘secured enough based on a design failure. And the top just completely blows off,'” Wagschal, Benitez and Ferguson report. “The recall affects 34 of Samsung’s top-loading models that were sold from March 2011 to November 2016.”
MacDailyNews Take: Samsung makes garbage.
Wagschal, Benitez and Ferguson report, “Consumers who have one of the washing machines included in the recall are advised to contact Samsung toll-free at 866-264-5636 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET, or online at Samsung.com and click on the recall notice at the top of the page for more information.”

Damn.
Cubs win the world series, Samsung products imploding / exploding, Twitter going t!ts-up, Eric the Mole getting exposed as a democrat operative, Microsoft making products that dozens of people want…
What the heck is going on?
All we need is a red comet and the appearance of a superhero baby escaping another planet’s destruction and we will have the last signs in place for … the coming of a new Mac Pro that is really Pro.
At least there is one constant in this crazy world…Apple ignoring its loyal pro users.
Do you think Samsung will arrange for immediate replacements, or hand out rolls of quarters so that you can wash your clothes at the laundromat, while your washer is getting fixed?
“…based on a design failure.”
Best phrase ever combined with Samsung…
You mean their new slogan?
Explosion? It looks like battery problem!
Want to destroy a laundry room?
There’s an appliance for that.
The only way Samsung devices will quit blowing up is if they go into the bomb making business.
You win the day!
AThat was funny
*BREAKING*
Samsung Washing Machines banned from all flights.
How does anyone buy their products?? Exploding Washers…Exploding cell phones…what’s next? They obviously don’t value their customer’s safety let alone their products performance….they just copy-cat their products instead of being innovative. They surely don’t seem to have quality control figured out…..
Exploding vacuumcleaners ?! That would really suck! 🖖😀⌚️
This just out at ArsTechnica:
Explosive Galaxy Note 7 gets blacklisted from New Zealand networks
New Zealand shuts off cellular access of recalled device to entice returns.
The saga of the explosive Galaxy Note 7 keeps going. Even though the device has been cancelled and all units have been recalled (twice), getting customers to actually turn in their phones has been a challenge.
In New Zealand, Samsung and The New Zealand Telecommunications Forum (TCF) are dealing with the issue by taking the drastic step of banning the Note 7 from the nation’s airwaves. Starting on Nov. 18, the Note 7 will be cut off from New Zealand’s networks.
Not On My Network!
Angry Samsung fans will be band together and stack their Note 7s at the base of cell towers, hoping the cascade of exploding Notes will topple the towers!
I bet you that if samsung makes bombs, those won’t be exploding.
In addition to Note 7s melting down, their new woman Pres. has just done the same.
No, I am not Donald Trump. We sell home DIY supplies and a bunch of crappy Samsung washers and driers and refrigerators. We will stuff these babies into your home regardless of how good they are and inspire of being trade dress copies of good products. – HD
I kinda believed the headline — it was truthy — but had to check to make sure it wasn’t an Onion article. Wow…
Samsung just doing their basic routine to overclock their shit to cheat on geekbench result.
Samsung, making technology that fights back!
You know Samsung management is in trouble when their B of D asked to borrow North Korea’s Anti-aircraft guns.
Just tell me they don’t make breast implants please.
New they were going to become involved in armaments????
That should have read, who knew…….
