“Along with dropping the prices on all of its USB-C adapters accessories to help new MacBook Pro owners transition to USB-C more affordably, Apple has also introduced some significant price cuts to the 4K and 5K LG UltraFine Displays that were announced at its October 27 Mac event,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.

“The LG UltraFine 5K Display is now priced at $974, a $325 price cut from its original price of $1,299.95,” Clover reports. “The LG UltraFine 4K Display is now priced at $524, a $175 price cut from its original price of $699.95.”

MacDailyNews Take: That 27-inch IPS LG UltraFine 5K Display with 5120-by-2880 resolution, P3 wide color gamut, three downstream USB-C ports, and over 14.7 million pixels was rather tempting at $1,299.95. Now, at just $974, it’s pretty much irresistible!

    1. Exactly how lazy and incompetent does a gay activist posing as a CEO have to be, in order to not be able to make a phone call to China and get Apple back in the display business.

Instead, Cook is so incompetent that he actually markets LG’s displays better than he ever did Apple’s. The only problem “GLOBAL DIMMING”.

Google : “lg, global dimming”. All LG displays constantly adjust the screens from light to dark, for seemingly no particular reason other than to exasperate the user. LG has been aware of this problem for YEARS and there is no fix (see youtube), aside from fiddling with the setting in a hit or miss fashion.

Roll the dice at your discretion. Are you even surprised that the world’s most incompetent CEO picked the most incompetent display vendor?

      1. Maybe monitors today are so well made they have nothing to add or offer to it to make it better? Apple has said they wouldn’t get into markets they couldn’t improve on.

Hadn’t heard of that problem and I have an Ultrawide 3440×1440 LG monitor and experience none of that “global dimming.” It’s rock solid in fact.

      2. Considering LG is apple’s display supplier for cinema displays and iMac/MacBook panels… not such a big deal to just have them use their own branding on the display, it also brings down the price quite a bit. You know, anonymous homophobic coward, that dell makes a 5k display that is almost double what apple is charging for theirs? Oh that’s right you’re just here to spout inane hatred because you’re ashamed of being closeted, and take out your own self hatred on those of us who Unlike you are out and proud! Go fuck yourself, you assclown.

      3. Your arguments are undermined by your homophobic statements every time.

There’s plenty to criticize without worrying about who Tim Cook wants to have sex with.

You are hurting your own credibility.

  1. Damn – Def buying that one now to go with my new Macbook Pro! Nice to see that bitching and whining works! Guess I need to do more of that in the future!! Thanks !

  2. now if they would do something about SERIOUSLY LOWERING Mac Pro prices until they have a new one out.

$4600 for a D700 with 256 GB drive, 16 GB RAM and one third the GPU power of mid range $600 PC card?

  3. It should have started at the same price as the 27″ Thunderbolt Display. I think that would have gone a long way to temper the pros. $974 is a pretty good deal – almost perfect.

  4. This new price is coming in line with the Thunderbolt display. Problem is this display only has USB-C ports and looks like it is made of plastic so it’s not even comparable. They would have sold a boat load if they followed Apple Lead with the Thunderbolt and had a full set of “legacy” ports on a classy looking machine.

  5. I’m actually avoiding these for now, for one reason: it has only one TB3 port, so daisy-chaining is impossible on these even though TB3 can support up to 6 daisy-chained devices.
